When I headed off to college in 1962, I had every intention of completing my four years and then becoming a teacher. But it seems life had a very different plan for me.. My vision for the future started to change during my junior year at Arizona State. It was then that I married my high school sweetheart. To build up our savings, I began working full-time and attending school part-time, which put me behind schedule from my original plan. I was alright with the change, though, because working ensured that my lovely new bride could still graduate on time.. After my wife graduated, I went back to school full-time. But just as everything seemed to be getting back on track, another wrench was thrown into the works — I was drafted into the Vietnam War. I had never envisioned myself joining the armed forces, but I chose to embrace the idea by applying to Officer Candidate School for the U.S. Air Force. Unfortunately, though, my military examiner deemed that I had “bad feet,” which led to my exclusion from the war.. It was only after my military career was denied that I realized I hadn’t made any backup plans for the future. Fortunately, an opportunity presented itself in the form of Arizona State’s new law school. It was scheduled to open just as I was debating what to do next. With my father’s encouragement, I decided to apply. The rest, as they say, is history.

Jody L. Broaddus is a civil law attorney with considerable experience in civil litigation matters. Jody has been a licensed civil law attorney for over 17 years. In addition to being licensed in Arizona, she was also licensed in Nevada, Oregon, and Washington. Growing up in a small town in Iowa, Jody has learned to create a human connection in a close-knit community as well as the importance of earning an honorable reputation. After moving to Phoenix in 1988, she went to work as a file clerk at a notable personal injury law firm where she quickly advanced as a civil litigation paralegal. She obtained her Associates of Arts in Criminal Justice at Eastern Arizona College, then her Bachelor of Science in Justice Studies from Arizona State University, which culminated in her receiving her Juris Doctorate from Creighton University School of Law in Omaha, Nebraska.. Jody has demonstrated success in handling many challenging and complex civil litigation matters. She has been involved in hundreds, if not thousands, of personal injury cases including catastrophic injuries and death. The most important thing for Jody when representing someone is to evaluate what is best for the clients while working to eliminate the crisis that may have been brought to the client, their family, and loved ones.. Jody’s upbringing and family background of farmers, engineers, nurses, and teachers, has taught her the importance of understanding and meeting her client’s needs and priorities along with thinking beyond the expected strategies. I was born in Detroit, and raised in southeastern Michigan and northwestern Ohio, before moving to the desert southwest after graduation from college. I traded winter gray skies, cold and snow for sunshine warmth and annual withering summer heat. I have lived in Arizona since 1976, and graduated law school in 1983.. I am single, with three handsome & intelligent adult sons, and an eight-year old grandson, who keeps me busy trying to keep up with him. I  enjoy an active lifestyle, including: trave to new and interesting places; white-water rafting, camping and stream fishing for trout; playing and watching sports; reading and  talking with people, as I always want to better know and understand our world around us.
