I  have been practicing law for over 40 years.  From 1971 to 1983 I served as the head of the Criminal Division of the United States Attorney's Office, with the exception of a short period of time in 1975 when I served as Legal Advisor to South Carolina Governor James Edwards.. Since going into private practice in 1983, I have devoted my practice to civil plaintiff's work including serious automobile accidents, medical malpractice, nursing home negligence and workers compensation and also to the defense of those charged with white collar criminal violations.. I was born and raised in McCellenville, South Carolina, a small fishing village near Charleston and still reside in McClellanville.

Brett D. Budlong is an associate in the Charleston office of Graybill, Lansche & Vinzani,  LLC. Mr. Budlong’s practice focuses primarily on commercial real estate development and financing transactions. He also advises developers, investors, lenders, buyers and sellers with regard to financing, leasing, land use and development, planned unit developments (PUD’s), construction, real estate title insurance, and all aspects of structuring commercial loan, CMBS, and business transactions. Mr. Budlong has achieved the LEED Green Associate designation from the U.S. Green Building Council and has presented at numerous continuing education seminars on various real estate topics. Brett previously worked in the Real Estate and Structured & Real Estate Finance group of a large international law firm before joining Graybill, Lansche & Vinzani, LLC.

A New Jersey native, Lauren graduated from Monmouth University in 2009 with a B.S. in Social Work. Immediately thereafter, Lauren moved to South Carolina to attend the University of South Carolina School of Law from where she graduated in 2012. During law school Lauren became a volunteer Guardian ad Litem in abuse and neglect cases and served as a volunteer GAL until 2019.. In September of 2012, shortly after graduating from law school, Lauren began working for the South Carolina Department of Revenue where she spent six years litigating alcohol licensing and tax matters on behalf of the Department. Lauren also worked closely with the ABL section in advising them on the interpretation of statutes and spent a lot of time assisting with sales and use tax matters.  Lauren left the SCDOR in October 2018 to go into private practice with a small Mount Pleasant Law firm. In October 2019, Lauren opened The Acquaviva Law Firm, LLC so she could focus her efforts on alcohol licensing matters, state and local tax controversy, and family law/juvenile advocacy matters (including DSS cases).
