I  have been practicing law for over 40 years.  From 1971 to 1983 I served as the head of the Criminal Division of the United States Attorney's Office, with the exception of a short period of time in 1975 when I served as Legal Advisor to South Carolina Governor James Edwards.. Since going into private practice in 1983, I have devoted my practice to civil plaintiff's work including serious automobile accidents, medical malpractice, nursing home negligence and workers compensation and also to the defense of those charged with white collar criminal violations.. I was born and raised in McCellenville, South Carolina, a small fishing village near Charleston and still reside in McClellanville.

I take the time to care about each client and their family.  It is important for a person to understand the significant planning involved when he or she signs a Last Will or Trust Agreement.  Not only are clients providing for loved ones should bad times come aroundt, but they are protecting family members and sometimes relationships at the same time.  It is a very rewarding area of law and I enjoy it immensely!

I am a litigation attorney with over 20 yeasrs proven courtroom experience.   Although not every case goes to court, you need to make sure you are picking an attorney who will go to court if that what is needed.   If you prepare to win your case, then you are in the best possible position.   If you don't prepare to win, then you are almost certainly preparing to lose.. I believe in the value of work.  So, you will typically find me at the office or in court.  It helps that I like what I do.. I do teach Sunday school to 1st graders at my church.  Not only are kids funny (often unintentionally), I find that teaching little kids about faith, values and common sense makes me a better lawyer and person.  Communicating about right and wrong is what lawyers do for a living.   And at the end of the day, I think the world would be a better place if we could remember what we were taught in 1st grade---honesty, respect, responsiblity, commitment, and hard work.

Firm: Falls Legal, LLC, An Employment Law Firm

Falls Legal, LLC is a boutique employment litigation law firm that represents employees throughout the State of South Carolina.  We litigate the majority of our cases in South Carolina federal courts and represent employees all the way from the filing of an initial EEOC charge, if necessary, to trial.  Although we are located in Charleston, we are able to handle cases across the entire State of South Carolina, primarily through the aid of technology.. Because we are a small law firm, we only take on a select amount of cases each year.   The reason we limit the amount of cases we take is so we can provide the utmost attention to our clients and service their needs appropriately.  Before we decide whether we can take your case, we require a telephone or in-person conference to gather the facts and review all paper and electronic correspondence that you believe is vital to your case.  We will ask you to provide us copies of any employee handbooks, contracts, or correspondence that is relevant to your case.  After these steps have been accomplished, we will determine whether we can enter into a formal attorney-client relationship.. Our clients range from executive-level employees of Fortune 500 companies to workers making minimum wage.  We assist in all facets of employment law from severance negotiations to wrongful termination, discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, and overtime pay issues.  We also assist employees in reviewing and negotiating employment contracts.
