I love competition and thrive on being a trial lawyer. I'm known as the 'DWI Guy' and 100% own it. It's what I do. I'm in the Legal Elite Hall of Fame as my colleagues voted me as North Carolina's Top Criminal Law Attorney in 2016. I appreciate all the awards and recognition, from serving on Law Review to Business NC's Top 30 Under 30, to Super Lawyers, to the National Trial Lawyer's Top 40 Under 40, but it's helping people that makes me truly happy.. What will become clear after speaking with me?. [1] I'm direct and strategically-aggressive.. [2] My niche is getting people (Judges, Lawyers, DA's Office, etc.) to say "Yes" when they don't want to.. [3] Our custom internal-process and checks & balance systems will be relieving.. Being a certified NBA Player Agent (NBPA), the time I don’t spend battling it out in court, I spend either recruiting NBA prospects or reliving my glory days on the basketball court. I’ve been the Commissioner of the Mecklenburg County Lawyer Basketball League for years. Check out the photo-section for our recent Championship portrait. You’ll have the opportunity to hold our 50lb. gavel as it’s proudly displayed as soon as you walk in our building.. I’m a West Virginia native who fights to the end. I started my professional career in the Corporate & Investment Banking world. Although very interesting, I didn’t know my personal end-game until I formed RTS Law Group. Our employees are sharp, passionate, and feel like they are members of my family (some actually are). This has all been a dream-come-true. I’m looking forward to fighting on your behalf.
I discovered my passion for juvenile law by accident. I edited a magazine in Washington, D.C., for years before deciding at age 29 to go to law school. Following graduation, my husband and I moved to Charlotte and had our first child, who had severe brain damage following several strokes. I put the idea of law on the back burner, volunteering for various charities and advocating for my son.. Eventually I entered the work force again as volunteer coordinator at the Children's Law Center, a nonprofit dedicated to representing juveniles in all legal matters. Within a year I was representing juveniles in delinquency and mental health commitment hearings, with a foray into special education, but I concentrated on delinquency. Eight years later I opened my own law firm but after two years returned to the Center. I stayed another two years before I had to stop practicing to care for my three boys. In 2016, I re-entered the legal world at Fisher Law Group. In March of 2020, I began practicing with my husband, Bob Bollinger.. At The Bollinger Law Firm, I maintain my focus on juvenile law by continuing to represent juveniles in delinquency cases and defending parents whose children are in danger of removal from custody by the Department of Social Services or are already in DSS custody. I also do name changes, emancipation, expunctions for those interested in cleaning up their criminal records, and guardianship.
I am from Winston-Salem, NC, where I attended RJ Reynolds High School. I received a Bachelors of Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and upon completion attended Campbell University where I graduated in 1995. While at Campbell I finished first in my class in trial advocacy as well as two other subjects.I knew early on that my passion was trying cases in the courtroom. I was also drawn to criminal defense because I believe criminal defense lawyers are the guardians of our Constitution and our civil liberties. During law school, I worked at the Appellate Defender’s office where I assisted with death penalty appeals. I have also worked at the Federal Public Defender’s office where I assisted with Federal defense cases. After graduating from law school, I joined the Mecklenburg County Public Defender’s office where I worked for over two years. While there, I gained invaluable courtroom experience that continues to serve me to this day. In June of 1998, I opened my own practice where I focus on all criminal and traffic matters.I give 110% to every client regardless of the type of case. When you hire me, I am the only lawyer you will deal with in my office. I will pay the utmost attention to every detail in your case and answer any and all questions you may have. Rest assured, when you hire me, you will have hired an attorney who will fight for you.
