To demand more in the name of morals is mere cant.” Judge Learned Hand.. I had been practicing law for a number of years when I rediscovered this quote from Judge Hand. At the time, I was starting a program to obtain a Masters in Accountancy with the intention of using it to better serve my clients in estate planning and corporate transactions. Many years have passed since then but I am still struck by Judge Hand’s phrase “so arranging one’s affairs.” As both an estate planner and a corporate attorney, my primary focus is assisting my clients in so arranging their affairs to achieve their specific goals.. In estate planning, those goals often involve providing a legacy for a surviving spouse or child and making sure an appropriate person is named to serve as the guardian of a minor child. A will, durable power of attorney, and healthcare power of attorney with advanced directive are all necessary documents in an effective estate plan. Because everyone’s circumstances are different, certain estate plans can require the use of revocable or irrevocable trusts. In either case, the client is entitled to a comprehensive plan to achieve his, her or their goals. My role is to provide that plan as efficiently and effectively as possible. In 2012 Jon was named as a Rising Star by North Carolina Super Lawyers magazine and then again in 2013 and 2014; and is the only Charlotte lawyer to be named on this list for each of those years for the field of Personal Injury.  Jon has also been listed on the 2014 and 2015 editions of Best Lawyers for his practice in Workers' Compensation and is aslo AV-rated by Martindale Hubbell.  Jon serves on the Litigation Section Council for the North Carolina Bar Association, and is also on the Amicus Curiae committee for the North Carolina Advocates for Justice. In his spare time, Jon likes to read, hike, run and play the piano.

Jason spent the first twenty years of his career defending insurance companies and employers in disputes with injured workers. In his free time he enjoys playing golf, cooking, traveling and following the UNC Tar Heels and Carolina Panthers. Jason also has an affinity for Appalachian State University athletics due to the fact that his father and brother are both graduates of that institution and are ardent supporters of the Mountaineer football team.

In 2004, Attorney Dexter Benoit started his legal career in Chicago after graduating from the University of Illinois College of Law. He focused on personal injury from the get-go, but at the time he primarily defended large medical institutions and insurance companies convicted of wrongdoing. He quickly realized his true passion was helping the people who had been injured, not the institutions responsible for accidents. He relocated to Charlotte and opened Benoit Law Firm, PLLC in 2011. Since then he has won large settlements, including those that brought in over a million dollars, for clients in North Carolina. When he is not in his office or the courtroom, Dexter is actively involved in several local organizations committed to assisting those victimized by other’s negligence.

I was born in Colombia, South America. Moved to Charlotte, NC from Miami Fl in 1999. I attended Western Carolina University and University of North Carolina Charlotte for my undergraduate degree. I have worked in various law firms and owned a translation company before attending Charlotte School of Law, where I received my Juris Doctor. I have experience in many areas of practice including: Real Estate, Estate Planning, Personal Injury, Worker’s Compensation, Immigration, and Family. I am also fluent in Spanish.

I started my career in family law over 10 years ago, and my professional and personal experiences have taught me the importance of ending a marriage with as much dignity as possible. Prior to joining Rech Law, I practiced with a family law firm in Charlotte.. I am a native Charlottean and a graduate of Charlotte School of Law, where I graduated in the top ten percent of my class. During law school, I worked in a family advocacy clinic, where I had the opportunity to represent parents whose children were in Department of Social Services’ custody. I also interned with the Mecklenburg County Family Court Administrator’s Office, the Honorable Louis A. Trosch, Jr., and in the Legal Department for Matthews-based Family Dollar, Inc., and volunteered with the Mecklenburg County Self-Serve Center.. Prior to attending law school, I was a legal assistant to a family law practitioner for almost seven years. I also volunteered for the Mecklenburg County Guardian ad litem program for over two years. I earned my bachelor’s degree from Queens University of Charlotte where I majored in American Political Science and was named Political Science Student of the Year. While at Queens, I was an active member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority.. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband, Jon, and our Labrador retriever mix, Sawyer. I also volunteer with the Yancey County Humane Society and the Humane Society of Charlotte.

I own and operate my own law firm representing clients in family law matters, criminal defense, and traffic.. I also work closely with Safe Alliance to help represent victims of domestic violence pro bono.

I love competition and thrive on being a trial lawyer.  I'm known as the 'DWI Guy' and 100% own it.  It's what I do.  I'm in the Legal Elite Hall of Fame as my colleagues voted me as North Carolina's Top Criminal Law Attorney in 2016.  I appreciate all the awards and recognition, from serving on Law Review to Business NC's Top 30 Under 30, to Super Lawyers, to the National Trial Lawyer's Top 40 Under 40, but it's helping people that makes me truly happy.. What will become clear after speaking with me?. [1] I'm direct and strategically-aggressive.. [2] My niche is getting people (Judges, Lawyers, DA's Office, etc.) to say "Yes" when they don't want to.. [3] Our custom internal-process and checks & balance systems will be relieving.. Being a certified NBA Player Agent (NBPA), the time I don’t spend battling it out in court, I spend either recruiting NBA prospects or reliving my glory days on the basketball court.  I’ve been the Commissioner of the Mecklenburg County Lawyer Basketball League for years.  Check out the photo-section for our recent Championship portrait.  You’ll have the opportunity to hold our 50lb. gavel as it’s proudly displayed as soon as you walk in our building.. I’m a West Virginia native who fights to the end.  I started my professional career in the Corporate & Investment Banking world.  Although very interesting, I didn’t know my personal end-game until I formed RTS Law Group.  Our employees are sharp, passionate, and feel like they are members of my family (some actually are).  This has all been a dream-come-true.  I’m looking forward to fighting on your behalf.

I have been practicing federal and state criminal defense in Charlotte for over 20 years. Since 2010, I have been a State Bar Board Certified Specialist in State and Federal Criminal Law. Since 2012, I have been selected each year as a North Carolina Super Lawyer and have received the highest peer rating (AV preeminent) from Martindale-Hubbell. I have handled every type of criminal case and have always striven to obtain the best possible results for my clients. Unlike many criminal defense lawyers, I do not run a high volume practice where the client is expected to quickly plead guilty and move on. Instead, I studiously look for weaknesses in the prosecution's case with an eye towards winning the case in front of a jury. I am not afraid to try a case, having tried over 130 jury trials during my legal career. On the other hand, if the case appears to be one which will likely result in a guilty verdict, I use the weaknesses in the prosecution's case and the positive aspects of my client's background to try to negotiate a better plea bargain than would otherwise be offered.

I have been empowering businesses and individuals for over 10 years. Most of my clients mirror who I am as a person: self-made, hardworking, tenacious, dedicated, innovative, and fearless. Whether it is advising clients on how to protect their business’ assets, or preparing a witness for trial, the goal is always the same: to empower the client, to make them stronger, better, more prepared so that they can reach their goals and succeed. I consider several of my clients to be close personal friends and try to approach each new client with the intention that the relationship be a lasting one.. I have had the unique opportunity to see the practice of law from a variety of different viewpoints having worked for a North Carolina State Court prior to going to law school, clerked for the Department of Justice during law school, and working for a large United States Government contractor and private law firms after graduating law school.. I am a Master Gardener with the North Carolina Mecklenburg County Extension Master Gardeners, and a member of Frazier Park Community Garden.  I am also a member of Carolina Breast Friends where I try to offer advice and comfort to individuals who have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer.. After being the first in my family to graduate from college, I left the comfort of my hometown in Eastern North Carolina and moved to Washington, D.C., where I quickly became a foodie.  I prefer to spend my free tim surrounded by nature and can often be seen gardening with my partner George in the front yard of their home, riding my bike to the office, and walking out cats, Roger Parker and Marco Money, on a leash in Freedom Park.
