I began practicing law because I wanted to help people.  Working for a large law firm initially gave me exposure to different types of legal matters, but it did not provide the contact with clients that I desired.  In 2004, I opened my own practice and have thoroughly enjoyed working directly with my clients to help solve their complex legal problems.. When I first opened my practice, I was fortunate to have two senior attorneys mentor me in employment law.  They encouraged me to appeal three of my racial discrimination lawsuits to the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals, and I was hooked.  During the beginning years of my own practice, I was also fortunate to assist in the adoption of two of my nephews.  Adoption law is very near and dear to my heart, and I have no greater pleasure than to help adoptive parents and their adoptive children.. Working with clients through some of the most difficult times in their lives is rewarding to me.  Many of my clients are repeat customers, referrals, and friends.  I keep my clients fully informed of all action I take on their behalf, and return telephone calls within 24 hours.  I can be a “bulldog” when necessary, but I am to obtain the best results for my clients in all matters.. I began my legal career as an insurance defense attorney at a prominent law firm in Greenville, South Carolina. In that capacity I defended lawsuits on behalf of companies and insured persons in cases ranging from insurance dispute issues, personal injury cases, residential and commercial construction disputes and governmental liability actions. As a solo attorney in South Carolina I handled a variety of matters, including accident and injury cases, wrongful termination, unemployment denial appeal, simple wills, Hyatt Legal Plan clients, and challenges to non-compete agreements. As a litigation attorney for a prominent personal injury firm here in Charlotte, I represented persons who were injured in accidents.. As a military attorney in the United States Air Force Reserves, I have drafted wills, given legal advice to service members and their families on issues ranging from family/domestic, probate/estate planning, consumer protection issues, landlord tenant disputes, and personal injury. I provided detailed legal opinions to military commanders on contract issues, employment issues, and compliance issues.. I am licensed to practice law in South Carolina and North Carolina. I am also a licensed attorney in the United States District Court, District of South Carolina, and the United States District Court, Western District of North Carolina. My bar memberships include the South Carolina Bar Association, The North Carolina State Bar, The Mecklenburg County Bar Association.
