Since beginning in the practice of immigration law more than 30 years ago, the most important thing I have learned is to not predict or anticipate a negative outcome to a case. I will not accept a legal matter that I think is frivolous or not supported by law, but there are many cases in which hard work, study of the law and creative advocacy can influence the interpretation of a difficult issue, or gain favorable exercise of discretion of an immigration official or judge. As a colleague taught me a long time ago, if something is not prohibited, it is permitted. Immigration lawyers occupy a peculiar space where, often, government practices are not policies, policies are not rules, rules are not law, and both rules and law seem to be dispensed with, with hardly a second thought. We are persuasive advocates when we bring whatever authority we can muster to bear on a given situation. The adjudicator or IJ will say, "what? there is a rule or a law to apply?" And that can make all the difference in a given case.

My job is making sure our client's know and understand the legal options they have. I work hard for my clients and if they are loosing sleep, chances are I am too.. Professional Information:. I am entirely devoted to serving Chicagoland and Lake County, Indiana. I began my career as a Criminal Prosecutor. After more than 25 felony and misdemeanor trials and countless hours of in-court litigation experience, I began working for one of Chicagoland’s largest bankruptcy firms.. Although working for a large bankruptcy firm provided me with exposure to literally hundreds of bankruptcy cases, I felt that an important part of the individualized client-attorney relationship was missing. Unlike many larger firms, I believe each client deserves an attorney who has the time to listen, the compassion to understand, and the intelligence and determination to provide results.

My passion for litigation began while in law school where I was selected as the senior member on the National Invitational Trial Advocacy Team and earned the Warren D. Wolfson Award for Best Trial Advocate of the entire law school. After obtaining my law degree with honors in 2003, I served as a prosecutor with the Cook County State's Attorney's Office and rapidly ascended the ranks becoming one of the youngest prosecutors ever to earn the title of 'Special Prosecutor'. While there, I successfully tried over 50 complex bench and jury trials to verdict on behalf of the People of the State of Illinois. In 2007, I joined the law firm of Paul B. Episcope, LLC where I utilized those trial skills in pursuit of justice for injured individuals and their families in the civil arena. To date, I successfully have tried several criminal and civil jury trials to verdict, have recovered millions of dollars on behalf of my clients, have argued in both the First and Second District Appellate Courts of Illinois and have been selected as a Super Lawyer "Rising Star" in Illinois for my accomplishments.
