I started Laubacher & Co. in 1999 after having worked for NASA Lewis Research Center here in Cleveland, Ohio.. My practice is devoted almost exclusively to Family Law (Divorce, Dissolution, Custody and Domestic Violence). However, I do assist other experienced attorneys in our office in the areas of Bankruptcy and Employment Law.. I am a member of the Board of Trustees for the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court Guardian ad Litem Project and have also been nominated for Guardian ad Litem of the Year.. I also teach monthly seminars reguarding "What Men and Women Need to Know about Divorce" through the City of Strongsville Adult Education Program.. For over 25 years, Attorney Mary Catherine Barrett has specialized exclusively in surrogacy and adoption law. Mary Catherine provides compassionate, confidential assistance to young women looking to place their child for adoption, as well as families seeking to adopt domestically. In addition, she has assisted in the complicated process of international adoption with countries including Russia, Brazil, Mexico, Thailand, Morocco, and India. Her training in surrogacy law began in California in 1992 working with Noel Keane, the “father of surrogate parenting.” She then returned to Ohio to start private practice. She is an Adjunct Professor of Surrogacy and Adoption Law at Case Western Reserve School of Law. She has successfully assisted in over 650 domestic adoption arrangements. In addition, she has established parental rights for intended parents through surrogacy arrangements in over 10 counties in Ohio where it was a case of first impression. Mary Catherine is a frequent presenter speaking on topics including private placement adoptions, international adoptions, ovum donor legislation, and legality and enforceability of surrogate parenting contracts. Other speaking engagements have included presentations to high schools throughout Ohio, hospitals, churches and support groups. She welcomes the opportunity to educate and inform the community about myths and realities associated with adoption and surrogacy. Mary Catherine has published articles utilized by the Ohio State Bar Association and local bar associations. Her non-profit involvement has mirrored her law practice, focusing on providing aid and assistance to children in Russian and Brazilian orphanages, coordinating gifts to mothers and children in community shelters, and transporting foreign children for adoption. Attorney and Robert Brown LLC Partner Jennifer (“Jenna”) Peyton received her Juris Doctorate from the Case Western University School of Law and is admitted to practice law in the State of Ohio. She is accepted to practice law before the US District Court for the Northern District of Ohio and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. Jenna’s practice focus is removal proceedings, family based cases both within the United States and with consular processing.. Jenna was born in Los Angeles, California and grew up in La Jolla, a small town in San Diego County. During her high school and college years, she studied abroad in Argentina, Italy and spent her junior year of college in Irkutsk, Siberia (Russia). Upon her return from Russia, Jenna graduated from Trinity College, and was awarded the Russian Book Prize for scholastic excellence. She moved to Cleveland in 1995. She is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Case School of Law (Immigration Practicum I and II), and an Adjunct Clinical Professor at Cleveland-Marshall School of Law. She speaks Spanish and Russian.. Jenna is currently the Vice President of Ohio AILA, and a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. She has received multiple awards for her pro bono service, notably for her efforts in ending family detention. She is married to Timothy Peyton, and they have two daughters, Margaret and Katherine.
