CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES. Felix is licensed to practice law in all Texas state courts. He is also admitted to practice before district courts in the United States Northern District of Texas, Eastern District of Texas, Western District of Texas, and Southern District of Texas, and before the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.. PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION. Felix received a Bachelor of Arts in History from Georgia Southern University in 2000. While at Georgia Southern, Felix was enrolled in the Order of Omega academic honor fraternity. He was also the recipient Dorman Scholarship, Dwyer Scholarship, HOPE Scholarship, and Regents Scholarship.  He then attended the Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University, receiving a Juris Doctor (J.D.) in 2003. While at SMU, Felix was named Outstanding Advocate of the Year by the Dedman School of Law Board of Advocates. He was also selected for enrollment in the Order of Barristers, a courtroom-advocacy honor society. Felix also received awards for writing a national best brief and competition best brief, respectively, in the 2002 National Criminal Procedure Tournament and the 2002 Howey & Sweeney Appellate Advocacy Competition. Further, he was a national finalist and competition finalist, respectively, in these same competitions. Finally, he was a regional finalist in the 2003 American Bar Association National Appellate Advocacy Competition.. PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND. While in law school, Felix served as a research assistant for SMU law professor Joseph McKnight and twice interned with the Federal Public Defender for the Northern District of Texas. He also worked in the SMU Criminal Prosecution Clinic, which operates in partnership with the Dallas County Criminal District Attorney. After law school, Felix began his legal career as an associate in the civil litigation section of an East Texas law firm. During this time, he was involved in a wide variety of personal injury and wrongful death lawsuits, including defective-product lawsuits. This included cases in federal and state courts, and in venues such as Arizona, Illinois, South Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming. In 2006, Felix left his firm to serve as a staff attorney with the Twelfth Court of Appeals. In 2010, Felix left the Twelfth Court to resume private practice as a civil litigator.  He currently handles personal injury and wrongful death cases, as well as civil appellate matters. Felix is a member of the Defense Research Institute, Texas Association of Defense Counsel, Order of Barristers, and State Bar of Texas.. PERSONAL BACKGROUND AND INTERESTS.
