Most of my practice is practicing in the public finance law area.  I have worked in all capacities in tax-exempt financing deals including as issuer's counsel, bond counsel, underwriter's counsel and borrower's counsel.  I have worked on deals of all sizes and with all types of clients including state agencies, cities, hospitals, colleges and other 501(c)(3) entities.. Additionally I work on general business, tax transactions, employee benefits and on compliance issues relating to ERISA.  I have formed businesses, provided advice on ongoing transactions and have helped entities to resolve matters with the Internal Revenue Service and the Iowa Department of Revenue.

I have represented clients in a broad range of litigated conflicts including defending clients in state and federal courts.  My experience includes defending product liability claims (personal injury and product performance), employment contests, commercial contract disputes, construction claims and medical negligence claims.. When necessary, I have taken cases to verdict in both jury and bench trials and have also argued cases at various appellate court levels..
