After graduating from law school, Dan worked as a law clerk for Chief Justice Gerald W. VandeWalle of the North Dakota Supreme Court.. Dan is married to Patricia, a Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserves.  They have three children and live in Devils Lake, North Dakota.
