Ethel D. Andersen has concentrated her law practice in the areas of estate planning and probate since she and her husband, Tom, founded the firm in 1988. She represents a variety of individuals, many with complex estate tax issues and family issues. She has spoken frequently at estate planning seminars sponsored by the fiduciary law section of the Georgia Bar Association. For approximately 25 years Ms. Andersen has held an “AV preeminent” rating by the Martindale-Hubbell National Legal Directory, which is the highest designation given for both lawyer competence and integrity.. Ms. Andersen received her B.A. degree in psychology from Duke University followed by a year of teaching social studies in public school.  She then attended the University of Georgia School of Law where she was selected for membership on the Georgia Law Review and was awarded a faculty merit scholarship.  Upon receiving her J.D. degree from Emory University School of Law, she began her legal career as an associate at Troutman Sanders.  Ms. Andersen has also worked as an assistant attorney general and as an administrative law judge.  She is licensed to practice before all state and federal courts including the United States Supreme Court.. Ms. Andersen has been very involved in the Gwinnett County community and has served on numerous charitable boards.  She was the 2012 recipient of the prestigious Anna Shackelford Legacy Award given by the Gwinnett Chapter of the Metro Atlanta United Way in recognition of her years of volunteer service.  Mrs. Andersen currently serves on the board of the Community Foundation for Northeast Georgia and recently served as board president.  She also currently serves on the board of Gwinnett Medical Center Foundation and on the executive board for Gwinnett Clean and Beautiful and is a Trustee for the Hudgens Center for the Arts.  She is a graduate of Leadership Gwinnett and has served on the executive committee for its alumni council.  She has served on the Board for the Gwinnett Coalition of Health and Human Services.  Ms. Andersen was also a founding board member of the Gwinnett/North Fulton Junior League and was a founding board member and past president of the Gwinnett Council for the Arts.
