I am a graduate of North Carolina A.&T.State University where I received a B.S. degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Banking and Finance. I received my law degree in 1991 from North Carolina Central University School of Law, in Durham, North Carolina, where I was a member of the Law Journal and Chairman of the Moot Court Board.. Early on in law school, I knew I wanted to return to my hometown to practice law. I opened my practice in my hometown in 1991. Practicing at home offered me many opportunities to handle a variety of cases ranging from family law, adoptions, criminal cases, workers compensation, and wrongful death cases. After eight (8) years in private practice, I went to work for the Catawba County Department of Social Services where I handled cases ranging from abuse and neglect of children, terminations of parental rights, adoptions, child support, and adult protective services. In 2001, I opened my practice in Gastonia. I have also worked as a contract attorney for the Alexander County Department of Social Services, Gaston County Department of Social Services, and the Lincoln County Department of Social Services.. I am licensed to practice law in North Carolina and am admitted to practice in the U.S. Federal Courts for the Western District of North Carolina and the Middle District of North Carolina. My professional memberships and affiliations include the North Carolina Bar Association Family Law, Bankruptcy Law, and Business Law Sections; the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys; the American Bar Association; and the Gaston County Bar Association.. I believe in giving back to my community. I am the leader of a Girl Scout troop.. Practicing law is what I always dreamed of doing as a child and I am thankful to be living my dream.
