FLETCHER DAL HANDLEY, JR., is a civil justice attorney with The Handley Law Center in El Reno, Oklahoma.  His practice is focused on Personal Injury Law and complex family law.  He also practices as both a civil and family law mediator.  In 1975 he earned a BA in Professional Writing from The University of Oklahoma and a Juris Doctorate Degree from the OU College of Law in 1979.. He began his military career 1966 as an Air Force ROTC Cadet at OU and served on active duty with U.S. Navy Patrol Squadron 11 as a P-3 Orion aircrew member from 1969-1972.  He enlisted in the Oklahoma Army National Guard in 1981 and was commissioned into the JAG Corps in 1983.  He retired in 2008 as the Assistant State Judge Advocate for Oklahoma and Military Judge.. He is a former member of the Council of the Tort, Trial and Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) of The American Bar Association and has also served as Chair of the Auto Law Committee and Chair of the Plaintiff’s Task Force.  In 1999, he testified before the US Senate Commerce Committee in opposition to a proposed national no-fault insurance law.   He served on the ABA Standing Committee on Armed Forces Law, and the ABA Working Group on Protecting the Rights of Service Members.  He spent several years as Chair of the TIPS Scholarship Fund Board and is the immediate past chair of the Plaintiff's Policy Task Force.. He was selected as Oklahoma’s Outstanding Young Lawyer of 1983 and was appointed to  a temporary division of the Oklahoma Court of Civil Appeals in 1991.  He has lectured throughout the United States on several areas of trial practice and was a guest speaker at the 1999 Hawaii Bar Association’s Automobile Law Symposium.  He served as a Mentor at the 2002 National Trial Academy in Reno, Nevada.  He is a former President of the Canadian County Bar Association and was a 9-time delegate to the Oklahoma Bar Convention.  In 2008 he was elected as an Oklahoma Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, an honor reserved to no more that 1% of all attorneys.  He is a member of ABOTA, The American Board of Trial Advocates.. He is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, a Top 100 Trial Attorney of the National Advocates, a Director and member of the Executive Committee of the Oklahoma Association for Justice, and a Charter Member of the International Society of Primerus Law Firms, an organization dedicated to restoring integrity to the practice of law.  He is also a member of Public Justice, an organization that fights to insure all Americans have access to justice as guaranteed by our constitution.   He was named as an Oklahoma “Super Lawyer” 2009  through 2014.. His record of community service includes serving as President of the Noon Lions Club, the El Reno Community Theatre and El Reno Family YMCA.  He served on the boards of the Chamber of Commerce and the Canadian County Guidance Center.  He coached High School Mock Trial at El Reno highschool for almost 20 years and won a State Championship in 1991.  He was twice awarded the “Lamplighter Award” by the El Reno Education Association.. A. Ashton A. Handley is a trial lawyer and Partner at The Handley Law Center. He received his Juris Doctorate from Tulsa University’s College of Law in 2008, and has since gone on to serve hundreds of clients throughout the state of Oklahoma. His practice is primarily focused on representing clients in central Oklahoma involved in high asset divorce and family law litigation, as well as defending clients charged with criminal offenses such as DUI and drug trafficking. He also practices in the areas of personal injury, and is a leader in the emerging field of medical cannabis law.. Ashton is a US Navy Veteran, and in 2003 while aboard USS Boxer (LHD-4) in the Persian Gulf, he was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for his service during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is a member of several Veterans Organizations, including the American Legion. Ashton is also very active in the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, and serves on the Oklahoma Elks Association Veterans Affairs Committee. He is a past Exalted Ruler, and District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler. He currently serves as chair of the board of trustees of his local lodge.. Ashton’s other civic involvement includes serving on the El Reno Main Street board of directors and he is a Past-President of the El Reno, Oklahoma, chapter of Rotary International. Ashton’s volunteer work includes organizing and fund raising for Lawyers Fighting Hunger’s Annual Turkey Giveaway and serving as the President of the Board of Directors for a local non-profit court ordered counseling program Second Chance and Re-entry Services (SCARS).. Ashton has been an active member of the ABA’s – Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section, serving on the TIPS’ Task Force on Outreach to Law Students from 2005 to 2010, and task force on Outreach to Young Lawyers from 2010 to 2014. He currently serves on the OAJ Advisory Board of Directors, and is a Past-President of the Canadian County Bar Association.. Ashton was listed in Oklahoma's “10 Best" by the American Institute of Legal Counsel- DUI/DWI Division in 2015 and 2016 as well as "10 Best" by the American Institute of Family Law Attorneys in 2017. The National Trial Lawyers named him one of their Top 40 under 40 in 2016, and since 2017 listed him as a Top 100 Trial Lawyer for the State of Oklahoma. He is a graduate of the 2015-16 Oklahoma Bar Association Leadership Academy and maintains a 10 out of 10 rating by Martindale/Avvo.
