I was born and bred to defend! Both of my parents were criminal defense attorneys and taught me how important a proper defense is! From a very young age I knew that my passion was to serve my community as a criminal defense attorney. My Bachelor of Science degree is in Criminology: Forensics Behavioral Science, which taught me the history of crime and how social and biological factors contribute to an individual committing a crime. I take that knowledge and apply it to the courtroom, fighting for my clients to get the proper treatment so that they never come back to court- as opposed to a system set on incarceration and punishment.. While in law school I spent two and a half years working for a prominent criminal defense law firm so that upon becoming an attorney I could hit the ground running. At that firm I worked closely with the two partners that had a combined 80+ years of experience and involved me in every step of very complicated and high profile cases. I worked at that firm for another three years as a lawyer before taking a leap and starting my own firm, Proper Defense Law Corporation where the lawyer you hire is the lawyer that handles your case. Where your lawyer talks to you on the phone when you have a concern- not two days later. I set out to provide the defense that clients want and need! At Proper Defense Law we do defense different, we do it right!. I have committed my legal practice to focusing on criminal and juvenile defense, all persons accused of violating the law. I especially enjoy the opportunity to work with juveniles that get caught up in the justice system. I feel that youth are vital to our society and to have the chance to help a juvenile get their life back on track is invaluable to me.. I handle cases that cover the vast spectrum of criminal law in both federal and state courts all over California including: domestic violence; theft, robberies, and burglaries; felon gun use and possession allegations; domestic violence; batteries and assaults; assault with a deadly weapon/firearm; white collar crimes such as real estate, bank, medical, and welfare fraud; sex crimes (except for child molestation); solicitation and prostitution; arson; criminal threats; battery on an officer/resisting arrest; drive by shootings; kidnapping and false imprisonment; manufacturing and distribution of drugs; conspiracy and bribery; child abuse and child endangerment; cyber crimes; DUIs and BUIs; vehicular homicide; manslaughter; murder; rape; and gang allegations.. I am a passionate attorney and I am eager to represent clients at all stages of criminal proceedings whether wrongly accused, overcharged, or unjustly convicted.
I try to give back to the area's rich agricultural heritage by attending Ag One Foundation events to raise scholarship money for California State University Fresno's School of Agricultural Sciences and Technology. Through these efforts I gain insight into the ag community's perspective, which is the back bone of our local economy.

I take on bankruptcy cases that are complex and outside of the scope or expertise of the normal high-volume consumer bankruptcy attorneys. My firm has a regional presence in California's San Joaquin Valley with offices in Bakersfield and Fresno. Our bankruptcy department consists of four partners and three associates all dedicated to the practice of bankruptcy law.

I have been married for 28 years. We have seven children and two grandchildren. Life is good in the Larsen home!. I have been engaged in employment law for over 20 years now. However, I learned early on that I could provide a greater value to clients by helping them prevent lawsuits. I also learned that employers needed help with quality HR professionals.. In 2001 I started Sierra HR Partners, Inc., a separate but ancillary company to my law firm. Sierra HR is staffed with certified HR professionals who help my clients comply with the law. The HR professionals are trained to identify issues that could create legal complications. When that happens, I step in. It has been a great partnership among my law firm, Sierra HR and our clients. I have been in practice for 25 years and have substantial business, estate planning, and litigation experience.. I grew up in Minnesota. During my college years I worked on the family farm, where we grew vegetables.. I graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1984 with a Bachelors of Arts in English (also Phi Beta Kappa).. I attended law school at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. I obtained my J.D. degree in 1989, and am a member of the Order of the Coif academic honor society.. I settled in Fresno in 1989, where I have maintained my practice.. When CDs were the rage, I reviewed a lot of music for a local newspaper. My old website is still at . You had to be there -- I'd receive 15 or more CDs every week. Now, I listen to lots of live music and other ROIOs.. My son is attending law school at UC Irvine, and my daughter is a computer science major at UCSB. In my spare time I enjoy woodworking/cabinet making, trap shooting, and music.
I grew up on a ranch in rural Nebraska. I attended grade school in a one-room country school. My brothers and I rode motorcycles to school every day, unless it was snowing. I have bailed hay, cultivated fields, harvested corn, and delivered a baby calf. Growing up, I learned the values of hard work and simplicity. I carry these values with me still today.. After graduating from high school, I attended college at the University of Nebraska where I competed nationally in speech and debate. During my four years of college, I was a national finalist and ranked among the top speakers in the nation. I obtained my B.S. in 1995 and then went to law school where I excelled in trial advocacy courses. I graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Law in 1998. In 1999, I moved to Fresno to start my legal career. In 2000, I became licensed to practice law in California.. I started my legal career at a statewide law firm that specialized in defending public entities. During my tenure there, I acquired valuable experience in employment law. The next step in my career was an exciting position as an associate attorney with what was then known as Oren & Paboojian. Eric Oren and Warren Paboojian opened up a new world to me. They taught me how to take depositions, interpret medical records, evaluate cases, manage discovery, draft pleadings and, above all, they taught me civility. From there, I moved on to what was known as Emerson, Corey & Barsotti. I found myself craving jury trial experience, which is what led me to join Nationwide Insurance Company as a staff counsel lawyer in 2005.. Kevin Piekut was the managing attorney of Nationwide’s Fresno office. As with Eric and Warren, Kevin opened up another new world for me, that of trial lawyer, and I loved it! Kevin taught me how to pick a jury, conduct effective direct/cross examinations, present evidence, opening statements, closing arguments and, in general, the simple—yet ever elusive—art of trying a case. I had found my passion and became an experienced trial lawyer.. The final stop before I opened my own practice came in 2011. I decided I needed experience managing a law office. I left Nationwide and accepted a position to open and manage a new staff counsel office in Fresno for GEICO Insurance. During my 18-month tenure at GEICO, I opened a law office from scratch, hired lawyers and staff, and successfully grew the practice. Along the way, I also acquired additional trial experience. However, my dream was to have my own law firm.. In 2013, my dream came true and I opened the doors of Hitchcock Law Inc. Our approach, regardless of what side of the table we are on, is four-fold: passionate advocacy, personal attention, respect and compassion, and aggressive trial representation.. Welcome, to Hitchcock Law Inc.
I focus my practice on the areas of law that regular people need most: personal injury, workers' compensation, employment, and landlord-tenant.. I'm a Fresno native and graduated from UCLA in 2009. I returned to Fresno for law school so I could gain first-hand knowledge about what I can do to be the most to help my community. I attended San Joaquin College of Law, graduated in 2013, and passed the bar on my first attempt.. I have over 9 years' experience in the legal industry. During this time, I've litigated hundreds of cases, including auto accidents, personal injuries, workers' compensation claims, wage and hour violations, employment discriminations, and landlord-tenant disputes. I spent over 4 years representing insurance companies, where I learned the inner workings of the insurance system. With this experience, I know how to obtain fast and fair settlements.
I currently work as the Family Law Information Center Attorney for Fresno Superior Court. We provide free assistance and information to unrepresented litigants in Family Law cases. We do not represent either party in a case but provide legal information and help with filling out forms.
I began my legal career in San Diego where I practiced criminal law, civil litigation, and personal injury. After a very successful practice there for 17 years, my family and I moved to Fresno, California, in 1995. Since that time, I have practiced exclusively criminal law. I was the Chief Defense Attorney for a 17 attorney criminal defense law firm that handled 3-4,000 felony cases a year. I left that firm to associate and partner with a very successful criminal law practitioner where I am continuing my commitment help protect the Constitutional rights of my clients.. I estimate that I have conducted over 200 jury trials - everything from DUIs, drug cases, sex cases, domestic violence, assaults, "three-strikes," dozens of cases involving criminal street gangs, gun/deadly weapons, drive-by shootings, robberies, attempted murders, and murders, including special circumstance murder cases. I have received many outright Not Guilty verdicts for my clients in all of these types of cases, including several murder cases - at one time between 2005-2007, the jury found my clients Not Guilty in four separate cases in a row. I have handled all kinds of criminal and related criminal proceedings, from violation of probation and parole hearings, DMV hearings, writs & appeals, and many other types of proceedings in the criminal process.. I have practiced all over California, in both state and Federal Court. I am qualified as a death penalty lawyer and am on the special circumstances/death penalty panel of attorneys in Fresno, California, where I am regularly appointed to special circumstances/death penalty murder cases by the Fresno County Superior Court.. One of my greatest pleasures over my long career has been to teach and train young lawyers and law students. Most of them have gone on to be successful lawyers in their own right, and have triumphantly represented their own clients in an honest and professional way. I have been involved in many community organizations, taught classes at the local law school, been a Mock Trial Attorney Judge and team coach, served as Judge Pro-Tempore for the Fresno County Superior Court, given many seminars to other attorneys, and started an organization for criminal defense lawyers to share useful information among themselves.. Above all, I enjoy helping reunite my clients and their families during and after dealing with perhaps the most difficult time in their lives, going through the challenging criminal process with them. This is particularly true where alcohol or substance abuse issues have ripped formerly close and loving families apart. I have saved the many letters of appreciation from clients and their families to whom I have been fortunate enough to have been of service. It is most gratifying for me to see them get back together, overcome their difficulties and live happy and fulfilled lives. Helping people is, after all, what being a good lawyer is all about.. I like going to football and baseball games, fishing, surfing, and going to Hawai where I can get caught up on my reading list and swim in the warm waters of the Pacific. I love sharing the lives of my two children, two grandchildren and spending time with Andrea, my wife of over 30 years.
I assist businesses and individuals in employment, construction, business, real estate, and agricultural matters.

I have conducted all phases of litigtion in the areas of complex litigation, banking, real estate, commercial, and construction litigation. In this capacity, I have served as lead counsel in numerous trials (both court and jury trials) as well as arbitrations and mediations. I also represent clients in alternative dispute resolution as well as serve as a neutral in arbitrations, mediations and early neutral evaluations, both privately and on behalf of organizations such as FINRA, the Superior Courts of Fresno and Madera Counties, and the Disptue Resolution Center of the Central California Better Business Bureau.

Since joining the firm as an attorney in 2012, I have handled hundreds of appearances and settlements for the firm, while building my own caseload along the way. I knew Cole, Fisher, Cole, O'Keefe + Mahoney is where I wanted to be based on the firm’s reputation, and the family history it represents for me.. I am a member, and past Central Valley chapter Vice President, of the California Applicants’ Attorneys Association (CAAA), an organization of attorneys who represent those injured at work.. A graduate of San Joaquin Memorial High School, I obtained my B.A. degree from U.C. Santa Barbara and proceeded to San Joaquin College of Law. Being chosen as a George A.
