He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Old Dominion University in 1983, and his Juris Doctor Degree from George Mason University School of Law in 1987 where he received the American Jurisprudence Award in the study of Professional Responsibility. He is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Virginia, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. the United States Court of Appeals (4th Circuit), and the United States Virgin Islands.. Mr. O'Malie is or has been a member of numerous professional organizations, including the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, the Hispanic Bar Association of Virginia, the Fairfax Bar Association, the U.S. Virgin Islands Bar Association, and the Arlington Country Bar Association where he served as a member of the Board of Directors, Chairman of the Criminal Justice Committee, on the Judicial Selection Committee, and on the Judicial Selection Committee Task Force.. Mr. O'Malie is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell, is listed in Virginia's Top Rated Lawyers and also SuperLawyers. He is also a former Master of the Bench member of the George Mason American Inns of Court.
