Prior to working in the field of law, Mr. Benson worked as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) having received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1997. Born and raised in Cahokia, IL, Gary’s legal background stretches all the way back to 1981 when he graduated from St. Louis University School of Law. That same year, Gary began working as an Assistant State’s Attorney for St. Clair County, and a long legal career was born. His time at the State’s Attorney’s Office included the trial of over 200 criminal and delinquency cases.. In 1984, Gary moved to private practice and focused on helping the injured and beleaguered workers of the area, lending his advice in the areas of workers’ compensation law, personal injury law and social security disability law. Finally, in 2013, Gary furthered his legal career by becoming a court-approved mediator for family law cases in the Second, Third, Fourth and Twentieth Judicial Circuits in Southern Illinois – he’s approved to handle civil and family mediations..
