From our office in Falls Church, Virginia we serve clients from many parts of the U.S. and abroad in filing employment and family-based immigrant petitions, applying for citizenship, and obtaining nonimmigrant visas for professionals, individuals, and religious workers. We also represent individuals in filing for Immigrant and Non-Immigrant Waivers, TPS, DACA, NACARA, and in securing diverse forms of relief from deportation proceedings based on an overstay, or as the consequence of a criminal conviction.. As a first generation immigrant from Bolivia I have personally lived the immigrant experience and throughout these years have had the privilege of helping people from many different cultures and backgrounds achieve their immigration dreams. I obtained my B.A. from The George Washington University in Washington, DC, and my law degree from Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia. My professional career began in the U.S. Marine Corps, where I served with distinction in active duty before attending law school.

My father opened his firm as a sole practitioner over 20 years ago and  my brother and I joined him a decade later.   We are fortunate to continue to work as a team and support each other in many ways.   A client of mine is our family's client as well.

Luis A. Perez-Pietri is a distinguished civic leader and highly recognized attorney with a record of demonstrated accomplishments over his professional career. He received his J.D. with honors, from the University of Puerto Rico and an LL.M. in taxation from Georgetown University. For the past 30 years Mr. Perez has maintained a litigation practice focused on domestic relations, juvenile and criminal law including:  jury trials resulting in acquittals on serious charges such as rape, malicious wounding and larceny; divorce cases involving properties and assets located in different countries and complex conflict of law issues involving application and interpretations of foreign laws and orders; and Custody cases involving relocation of children to countries such as Colombia, Argentina, Peru and Mexico.  He is actively involved with the Fairfax Bar, the Virginia State Bar and the community where he has held numerous leadership positions. He is a member of the Virginia State Bar Counsel for the 19th Judicial Circuit, Treasurer of the Board of Directors of the Virginia State Bar Diversity Conference, Member of the Executive Committe of the Virginia State Bar Conference of Local Bars Association, Member of the Board of Directors for Legal Services Corporation of Virginia and Treasurer of the Board of Directors for the Fairfax Bar Association. He is Past President of The Fairfax Bar Law Foundation, Past President of the Hispanic Bar Association of Virginia, Past Chairman of the Fairfax Bar Juvenile and Domestic Relations Committee,  He has also served as a member of The Citizens Advisory Council for the Juvenile Court, The Advisory Committee for the Supreme Court of Virginia on Services to Non- English Speakers, the Fairfax Gang Prevention Council and the Fairfax Partnership for Youth For his outstanding contributions Mr. Perez received the James Keith Public Service award in 2007, the Chief Justice Harry L. Carrico Pro Bono award in 2009, and the Leader in the Law award by the Virginia Lawyer’s Weekly in 2011.

I never planned on being a lawyer or an engineer for that matter.  Out of High School, I joined the Air Force to seek adventure and found a good bit of it as a Pararescue candidate.  Pararecuemen or PJs are USAF Special Forces combat paramedics, which like the SEALS operate in the SEA, Air and Land. During wartime, PJs may be sent over enemy lines to parachute in or via helicopter to recue downed pilots.  During peacetime, PJs perform all forms of civilian air, sea and mountain rescue operations.  Although I successfully completed the grueling Pararescue Indoctrination training and Army Airborne training, the stars were not aligned for me and I eventually washed out of the program during Army Special Forces Scuba School training and partly due to a medical injury.  However, the lessons learned in the military and especially through the PJ training forged my never quit and always give 110% character for the rest of my life.. After a short military career, I decided to become an electrical engineer and eventually a patent attorney. I always say that I am an engineer first and an attorney second and this is due to my long career as an electrical engineer working in the industry on everything from missiles, to fighter aircraft, to state-of-the-art signal processing technologies.  It took me a long time to admit that I am Geek, but as a summer associate at Nixon Peabody once pointed out -- you can’t spell beer without a double e!. I have many hobbies including martial arts, and I am currently studying Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) with my sons Andi and Alex, ages 7 and 10.  I love animals and our family also includes our cat Nelly and our Belgian Malinois puppy Max.  I am a big video gamer and build my own custom gaming systems and always stay up to date with the latest games and gaming technologies.  One game I especially like, Crysis has the most advanced gaming engine I have seen to date and can render virtual worlds with photorealism and real world physics that is second to none.. I am a dedicated family man, passionate about my work, and although I make myself available to my clients 24/7, my family always has and will always come first.  My wife Barbara (or my better 3/4s as I call her) also is a practicing attorney at my firm and has a law degree from Germany and a PhD in law from the George Washington University. Needless to say, Barbara is the cornerstone of our family and I would not be complete or successful without her..
