My practice involves domestic relations mediation and trial work involving a variety of cases including divorce, custody and child support.  I have practiced in the Genesee County area in Flint, Michigan since 1988.. Outside the practice of law I enjoy time with my family where we kayak and run frequently.  You can find us out and about in many local waterways once the ice is off the water.

I’Lanta Robbins graduated from Michigan State University-James Madison College in 1999 with a B.S. in Political Theory and Constitutional Democracy. She obtained her law degree from Michigan State University College of Law in 2002.  She worked in the Rental Housing Clinic and served as an Executive Board member of the Black Law Student Association.. While attending law school, Attorney Robbins worked as a summer associate for Barris, Scott, Denn & Driker, and a summer clerk for entertainment lawyer Gregory L Reed. She also clerked for Judge Karen Fort Hood in the 3rd District Court in Detroit (now sitting on Michigan Court of Appeals) and Genesee County 7th Circuit Court Judge Joseph Farah.. After receiving her law degree, Attorney Robbins became the first Legal Advisory Assistant for Genesee County 7th Circuit Court Judge John A. Gadola.  She went on to serve as an Assistant Attorney for the City of Flint from 2004 until 2012.  As Assistant City Attorney, she practiced civil litigation in police misconduct, employment, auto-negligence, personal injury, and constitutional law.  She also prosecuted misdemeanors and civil infractions in the 68th district court office. In addition, she served as general counsel to the City Flint Retirement System Board of Trustees.. In 2011, Attorney Robbins started Law Office of I'Lanta M Robbins, PLC. In 2016 she began working of counsel with TGQ Law in Probate and Estate Planning.. Attorney Robbins is a member of the Federal Court Eastern District of Michigan, Michigan Court of Appeals, Genesee County Bar Association, Centennial American Inn of Court,  North Carolina State Bar and serves as President of the Mallory, VanDyne, Scott Bar Association.. “My experience in diverse areas of the law allows me to fully serve the unique needs of my clients and assist them in reaching the best resolution."

I received my Juris Doctor degree from Cooley Law School in May 1986 with cum laude honors.  I was hired by a firm in  private practice in October 1987 and I am now a partner in the same firm.  I  specialize in Domestic Relations matters. In 2007 I completed the  40-hour class through the Institute of Continuing Legal Education (ICLE) to serve as a mediator.  I have maintained classes to continue my status on the court list, with my most recent class in October 2020.  I practice primarily in Genesee and Shiawassee Counties.  I have previously served as the  as chairperson of the Family Court Committee of the Genesee County Bar Association.  I was also be the President of the Shiawassee County Bar Association for 2013-14.
