Hello!  My name is Kelly Spann.  I am married to my husband, Todd, and the proud mom of Kyle, Kinley, and Kane.  I live in Florissant, Missouri (a suburb of St. Louis) and love my community.  I love being active and spending time with my family and friends.  I also love my job!  My journey to the title "lawyer" was not typical.  I didn't "dream" of becoming a lawyer.  It was not even on my potential career path.  Then, in 2004, I began working part-time for an attorney, Jon Fortman (my now partner), as his assistant.  It was supposed to be short term while he found a paralegal.  But I quickly fell in love with the practice of law and part-time became full-time and days became years.  After gaining years of experience and encouragement from numerous other legal professionals, I decided to become a lawyer.  I graduated from Western Governors University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in business management and obtained my Juris Doctorate from St. Louis University School of Law in 2021 with a concentration in intellectual property law.  After passing the Uniform Bar Exam and being sworn into the State of Missouri Bar in September 2021, I became Jon's partner and FortmanSpann was born.. I love the practice of law and thrive on providing clients with real practical advice and strategic solutions!

For over 26 years I have been dedicated to helping people with financial problems get the relief they need through bankruptcy.   I have represented thousands of people in St. Louis and the surrounding areas in chapter 7 and chapter 13 bankruptcy cases.   Helping people file bankruptcy, eliminate their debt, and save their homes, their cars, and their livlihoods is my passion.. I received my law degree, cum laude, from St. Louis University School of Law in 1984 and my undergraduate degree with honors from Valparaiso University in 1981.  I have been practicing bankruptcy law since before 1988.  From 2000 to 2014 I was a partner in a law firm that specialized in bankruptcy.   In 2014 I formed Baro Law Firm.   I am a frequent speaker and lecturer at bankruptcy seminars for the Missouri Bar and the U. S. Bankruptcy Court.   I am a member of the Missouri Bar, the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, and I am licensed to practice law in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.   I live and work in St. Louis, Missouri.
