I began working in the health care legal field when I was still in law school over 40 years ago My first firm represented Sacramento County in cost report audit disputes with Medi-Cal and Medicare and for the next 25 years I continued to do a significant amount of work for hospitals and health systems. Due to changes in the Medicare and Medi-Cal payment systems, my practice in the reimbursement arena has shifted to primarily representing federally qualified health centers.. I have also done work for health care clients in a variety of other areas such as fraud and abuse and related compliance issues and licensing and certification as well as serving as outside general counsel to several federally qualified health centers and a Medi-Cal managed care payor.
