Thank you for taking the time to find out more about me. I am currently a partner with the Meldon Law. Before joining the Meldon law firm in 2009, I practiced law in Daytona Beach with the State’s Attorney Office for almost four years. During my employment as an Assistant State Attorney, I personally handled thousands of criminal cases ranging from misdemeanor DUIs to capital felonies. In 2008, the 7th Judicial Circuit State’s Attorney’s Office promoted me to the Special Prosecution Unit.. I was born and raised in Gainesville and attended the College of William and Mary where I played on the Varsity Tennis Team and focused my education on the subjects of History and Economics. I later studied law at Stetson’s College of Law.. One of my life highlights was having my grandfather, Stetson Law Alum Maurice Wagner , present me with my diploma in 2005. My grandfather started practicing in Miami Beach in the early 1950s and a was a true trailblazer in the field of personal injury law. Maurice dedicated his life to fighting for justice and was awarded one of the highest distinctions by the Florida Supreme Court, the Tobias Simon award. In 2017, I returned to our family’s roots in South Florida where Maurice began his trial practice 80 years ago.. Now I run the Meldon Law firm with my father, the legendary Jeffrey Meldon. We have a full service firm with 5 lawyers and over 20 staff spread out through three Florida locations. Jeffrey and I take the time know our clients individually as it’s our honor to serve them.. Ronald Larry Baum was born in Baltimore, Md. in 1956 and earned his undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice and Criminology from the University of Maryland.  While attending college he was a regular member of the Dean’s List for academic achievement.  He also participated in intramural sports and earned medals in swimming, diving, wrestling, and softball.  Toward the end of his collegiate career he got his first job as a private investigator working in the Md., D.C., and Va. area.. Ronald Baum went to law school at Nova University in Fort Lauderdale, Fl.  While earning his law degree he excelled academically and earned three Book Awards (given out by the professor to the student who excelled highest in the class).  While attending law school Mr. Baum also obtained his private pilot’s license and, in addition, was employed as a private investigator part-time.. After graduating from law school Mr. Baum was admitted to practice law in Florida, Maryland,  Washington D.C., and is a member of the Federal Bar.. As a criminal attorney Mr. Baum has had extensive trial experience and earned 5 consecutive Hat Trick Awards from the BACDL (each separate award represented 3 consecutive felony jury trials with the Defendant being found not guilty on all counts in each case).. In 1990 Ronald Baum was appointed as a Traffic Magistrate for Broward County and was soon thereafter elevated to Administrative Magistrate.  He retained that position until he resigned in 1998.. Mr. Baum was appointed to the Wilton Manors Civil Board in 1988 and has served as Chairperson ever since.  He has also served on the Board of Directors of Meal on Wheels and volunteered with other charitable organizations.  He presently donates approximately 75-100 hours of pro bono (free) legal work a year.. Mr. Baum has also been appointed as a Gaurdian Ad Litem in and for Broward County, State of Florida.. Mr. Baum has worked with various police agencies on the technical aspects of criminal and traffic law.  He has also continued to help train new Magistrates in Broward County each time they have been appointed.. In 2000, Ronald Baum was honored to be a guest lecturer at The Russian Judicial Academy in Moscow, Russia.  He has lectured on various aspects of the American Criminal Justice System to Russian Judges and law students.  Mr. Baum has been invited back, and lectured, each year since then.. Also in 2000, Ronald Baum returned to his passion of training in mixed martial arts (muay thai, kenpo, kickboxing, and karate).  He subsequently was awarded his black belt in April 2005 and continues to train on a regular basis..
