Stephen Hoffman is a partner at Hackleman, Olive & Judd, P.A. As a real estate and land use attorney, he focuses his practice on all aspects of real estate transaction and development, including property investigation and due diligence, land acquisition, closing and settlement services, title insurance, permitting and governmental approvals, condominium and community association documents, and real estate financing with loan document review and drafting. Mr. Hoffman’s engineering and law degrees mesh perfectly with the Firm's real estate and development practice. He has worked on many nationally renowned projects such as Bass Pro Outdoor World, Sawgrass Mills Mall, Broward Mall, Dadeland Mall, the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Fort Lauderdale, the Trump International Hotel & Tower Fort Lauderdale, Galleria Mall, and Sprint’s telecommunication expansion in South Florida. In 2016, Mr. Hoffman coordinated the closing of his client's $87MM acquistion of the Barcelona Apartment complex in Jupiter, Florida.  In addition, Mr. Hoffman has set up many community developments, including condominium and property owner associations, and now guides boards through the many challenges such associations face.

Starting out in the Dade County Public Defender's Office, I tried over 50 jury and bench trials. With that unique courtroom experience, I transitioned to civil litigation, working for a boutique firm in Coral Gables, where I developed expertise in construction law, handling all types of project-related claims in both judicial and arbitral forums, ranging from simple non-payment claims to complex delay and construction defect claims. In 2006, I became Board Certified by the Florida Bar in Construction Law. From 2003-2008, I headed the Construction Law and Commerical Litigation Department at a statewide lawfirm, where I cultivated and developed a following of construction industry and commercial clients. From 2008-present, I have chaired the Construction Litigation Practice Group at Weiss, Serota, Helfman, Pastoriza, Cole & Boniske, P.L. a 50+ lawyer AV-rated firm with offices in Coral Gables and Fort Lauderdale, providing advice and guidance to the firm's many municipal and private clients on a variety of construction issues.

Since joining Colodny, Fass, Talenfeld, Karlinsky, Abate & Webb in 1992, Maria Elena Abate has built her reputation and expertise in the areas of civil rights claims, class action litigation, governmental affairs and insurance matters representing individuals, corporations and state agencies in cases dealing with discrimination, constitutional violations, insurance, employment and health care issues.. Ms. Abate chairs the Florida Bar’s Public Interest Law Section's Legal Needs of Children Committee and is a member of the Bar's Public Interest Law Executive Committee.. She also is a founding board member of the Florida Breast Health Initiative, a charitable organization dedicated to providing free mammograms to uninsured women..
