At Washington and Lee, Stanley joined Phi Delta Phi International Legal Fraternity, and he was a member of the 1996 National Mock Trial Team.. Stanley has spoken to numerous civic groups and organizations about relevant immigration topics, frequently authored articles for publication in local papers, and organized the 2009 Info Expo which provided a variety of legal, medical, business and educational services and information for northwest Florida's immigrant and diverse population. He has been an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) since 2006. During his time with AILA, Stanley has been a member of both the Central Florida and Georgia-Alabama regional chapters. In 2013, he participated in the National Day of Action in Washington, D.C., meeting with congressional leaders to advocate for comprehensive immigration reform. He has served on the Georgia-Alabama conference committee and was a panel presenter on "Complex Issues in Family Based Immigration" at the first annual conference.
