There is no shame in getting a divorce, nor is there any stigma for having had one these days. The overall divorce rate in California is close to 60 percent. It can happen to anyone, at any age, for any number of reasons. While I am sure that you feel the whole experience is very overwhelming and hard to accept at this time, you will eventually recover and enjoy life once again, just as I did after my divorce. Just how long this will take, however, is not the same for everyone. Each of us is a different person, and so are our circumstances.. I grew up a long time ago when you rarely ever heard of a divorce lawyer. My parents were never close but stayed together because that’s what they thought they should do. So many years later when I had my own marital problems, I did the same. I went through a cycle of trying to solve the problem, thinking it was her problem, thinking it was my problem, and finally thinking I could just live with the problem. However, after many years of this, I had been so emotionally worn down that it was all I could think about. I finally realized that life was short and I had to be happy, so I resolved to do something about it.. Once I had made that decision, the biggest hurdle for me was the feeling of being overwhelmed. How was I going to do it? How could I find a place to live where I could take my pets? What would I tell my family? How would I move out, etc? In retrospect, it was not that difficult. At the time, however, it felt virtually impossible due to the emotions I was going through. I only managed to overcome my fear by just taking the first step. Once I did that, each subsequent step became progressively easier until finally, I had completed them all.. I never realized just how much my emotions would impact my ability to make good decisions during my divorce, or almost any decision for that fact. I was acting just like everybody else going through a divorce despite the fact I had been a family law attorney for many years and should have known better. I felt vulnerable and no longer in control of my life. What I needed the most was to be able to talk to my attorney when I had a question, honest advice about what was going to happen, a realistic assessment of what things were going to cost, and to know that my case was a priority to him.. This experience transformed the way I practiced law. I did not want clients to feel the same way I did and resolved to make customer service the hallmark of our firm. I wanted each and every client to have whatever we could provide to reduce the anxiety of their divorce and to know that their needs were a priority to us. That’s why I make sure that we are available whenever they have a question, take whatever time necessary to educate them about how the process works, and always give them honest advice about the merits of their case and what things are going to cost. Ms. Snow began her career in 2004 as a litigation attorney for the Tennessee Department of Health, where she was responsible for prosecution of cases against health care licensees who were in violation of the law governing their practice. Mr. Landen first joined the law firm of McCormick Barstow in 1990. He is a member of the Insurance Coverage and Bad Faith Practice Group. Mr. Harris began his legal career in Fresno, California in 1998. For the next 16 years, Mr. Harris worked at three different firms including one of Fresno’s larger law firms, before working at a bankruptcy boutique, and finally a prominent business firm before founding Harris Law Firm, PC. Mr. Doerr now provides counseling to individuals and businesses regarding tax planning and tax controversy includeing IRS and FTB audits and appeals.. In addition to tax matters, Mr. Doerr assists new businesses with entity formation and established businesses with restructuring, mergers and acquisitions and capital needs. Mr. Doerr also negotiates and structures real estate transactions.. Megan Lucchesi is a shareholder with Parker, Kern, Nard and Wenzel.  Her practice focuses on general civil litigation and workers' compensation.   Ms. Lucchesi attended college at University of California, Davis.  She graduated Cum Laude with degrees in both Economics and Political Science as well as a minor in Managerial Economics.  After college, Ms. Lucchesi attended UC Hastings College of the Law, wherein she was an editor for the Hastings Business Law Journal and a competitor for the Hastings Client Counseling Team.    Ms. Lucchesi has clerked for the San Francisco District Attorney's Office wherein she conducted numerous preliminary hearings.  She has also served as a research assistant.   Currently, she is the President of the Fresno Industrial Claims Association (FICA).   She is a member of the California Bar and the Eastern  District of the United States District Court.

I have spent my entire professional career (27 years) practicing bankruptcy law.  Almost all of my clients are referred to me by former clients, attorneys, accountants and financial planners.  In 1994, I was the first Fresno bankruptcy attorney certified as a specialist in bankruptcy law by the California State Bar Board of Legal Specialization.  I take on bankruptcy cases that are complex and outside of the scope or expertise of the normal high-volume consumer bankruptcy attorneys.  My firm has a regional presence in California's San Joaquin Valley with offices in Bakersfield and Fresno.  Our bankruptcy department consists of four partners and three associates all dedicated to the practice of bankruptcy law.

I donated over 100 hours of pro-bono legal work with the National Veterans Legals Services Program located in Washington, D.C.and the Innocence Project at Georgetown University Law School.  I also worked as a law clerk for AARP Foundation Litigation Employee Benefits Group, where I drafted amicus briefs to Federal Courts of Appeal and the U.S. Supreme Court.  In addition, I worked as a law clerk for Workplace Flexibility 2010, a nonprofit policy initiative developing employer and employee friendly policy proposals for workplace flexibility.  Before law school, I interned with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and with Talk Radio News Service where I reported on stories of national importance for paying subscribers and college radio stations.. I have been married for 28 years.  We have seven children and two grandchildren.  Life is good in the Larsen home!. I grew up on a ranch in rural Nebraska. I attended grade school in a one-room country school. My brothers and I rode motorcycles to school every day, unless it was snowing. I have bailed hay, cultivated fields, harvested corn, and delivered a baby calf. Growing up, I learned the values of hard work and simplicity. I carry these values with me still today.. After graduating from high school, I attended college at the University of Nebraska where I competed nationally in speech and debate. During my four years of college, I was a national finalist and ranked among the top speakers in the nation. I obtained my B.S. in 1995 and then went to law school where I excelled in trial advocacy courses. I graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Law in 1998. In 1999, I moved to Fresno to start my legal career. In 2000, I became licensed to practice law in California.. I started my legal career at a statewide law firm that specialized in defending public entities. During my tenure there, I acquired valuable experience in employment law. The next step in my career was an exciting position as an associate attorney with what was then known as Oren & Paboojian. Eric Oren and Warren Paboojian opened up a new world to me. They taught me how to take depositions, interpret medical records, evaluate cases, manage discovery, draft pleadings and, above all, they taught me civility. From there, I moved on to what was known as Emerson, Corey & Barsotti. I found myself craving jury trial experience, which is what led me to join Nationwide Insurance Company as a staff counsel lawyer in 2005.. Kevin Piekut was the managing attorney of Nationwide’s Fresno office. As with Eric and Warren, Kevin opened up another new world for me, that of trial lawyer, and I loved it!  Kevin taught me how to pick a jury, conduct effective direct/cross examinations, present evidence, opening statements, closing arguments and, in general, the simple—yet ever elusive—art of trying a case. I had found my passion and became an experienced trial lawyer.. The final stop before I opened my own practice came in 2011. I decided I needed experience managing a law office. I left Nationwide and accepted a position to open and manage a new staff counsel office in Fresno for GEICO Insurance. During my 18-month tenure at GEICO, I opened a law office from scratch, hired lawyers and staff, and successfully grew the practice.  Along the way, I also acquired additional trial experience.  However, my dream was to have my own law firm.. In 2013, my dream came true and I opened the doors of Hitchcock Law Inc.
