I've dreamed of becoming a lawyer for a large portion of my life, and I'm happy to report that years of practice have not dulled my passion! I consider it an absolute privilege to represent my clients and to meet people "where they're at". We all fall on hard times during various seasons, and I see first hand just how difficult it is to walk through a divorce, custody battle, criminal charge, protective order, and many other legal matters. Because I understand these unique personal challenges and emotional battles, I consider it my responsibility to operate as a light in a dark place. As a family law lawyer and certified mediator, I aim to help husbands and wives, fathers and mothers, family members and parents preserve their relationships for the sake of the children. If I can help individuals come to a place where they can sit around a table and figure things out together without fighting to the death in court, I consider it a great victory. Although I do enjoy going before a Judge and fighting for your position (as every true attorney enjoys!), I prefer to help my clients move forward without a blood-thirsty court battle.. I have practiced in Hampton Roads and the greater Peninsula area, and I am familiar with many local Judges and courtrooms. I've done much criminal defense and family law work in the past, but have now narrowed my practice to family law matters. As a graduate of Regent University School of Law and a Hampton Roads resident, I truly value serving my community in a way that helps many families and individuals move forward.. In my free time, I'm an avid songwriter and I enjoy singing with my Church's worship ministry. Plus, I'm a tea enthusiast, and I love burying my nose in a great book!

I help clients with all aspects of driving related matters, including defending against charges related to DUI / DWI, Reckless Driving, Suspended License, License restoration, Speeding and other traffic charges.. I spoke on the topic "Serious Traffic Offenses in Virginia" for the Virginia Peninsula Paralegal Association and have provided video excerpts from that presentation for you to review on this website.. I authored a chapter in the book, A Cup of Coffee With 10 of the Top DUI Attorneys in the United States.  This book achieved the Amazon Bestseller List and Amazon's Hot New Release status.  The proceeds of this book benefit Kiwanis in their work helping children.

I grew up in a Navy family, so I am a native of Ohio, and briefly lived in San Diego, California. After leaving the Navy, we moved to Chesapeake, Virginia where my Dad pastored a church, and my Mom continued her calling as a public school special education teacher. I attended James Madison University and received a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature. After graduating from JMU, I was privileged to teach 9th grade English in Newport News while studying nights for a Masters of Divinity degree. At the end of my third year of teaching, I felt called to change professions and directions entirely, mostly due to seeing the impact of the justice system on my students and their families, and I attended Regent University’s School of Law.. I enjoy playing music (drums, guitar, and vocals) for church worship teams, and I once had the pleasure to be part of a local jazz trio. I love literature, movies, history, games, and amateur carpentry and home projects.. I feel immensely privileged by the trust of my clients to help guide them through the decisions and circumstances involving the most precious and intimate portions of their lives. I am a Virginia native, born in Newport News and raised in Seaford. I graduated from York High School before earning my Bachelor’s in Justice Studies and Writing, Rhetoric, and Technical Communications and my Master’s in Writing, Rhetoric, and Technical Communications from James Madison University. I received my Juris Doctor at Liberty University with a concentration in Family Law.. I love music (listening, not playing), sports, and doing things with friends. I am a proud member of Theta Chi Fraternity.. I am excited to join the Holcomb Law team and work for the people of this great area.
