I graduated from the St. Louis University School of Law after receiving undergraduate degrees in Business and Politics from Drake University. While in law school, I worked in the Legal Clinic and litigated cases before the Missouri Court of Appeals.  I also clerked for Circuit Court Judge Jon Beetem and Judge Paul Wilson, who is now a justice on the Missouri Supreme Court.  Upon graduating law school, I worked as Enforcement Counsel for the Missouri Department of Insurance, Financial Institutions, and Professional Registration where I gained experience working with insurance companies and handling administrative law matters.  I have represented clients in workers’ compensation matters at hearings and dockets throughout Missouri and am a member of the Missouri Bar and the Cole County Bar Association.

I grew up in Farmington, Missouri, went to undergrad at Mizzou, law school at Drake in Iowa, and then earned a post-doctoral degree in law & goernement from the American Univeristy in Washington, D.C. Emily J. Fretwell was born in Canton, Missouri to State Representative, Estil Fretwell, and his wife, Nina "Jo" Fretwell. After ending his career as a representative, Estil relocated his family to the Capital city to pursue a career as a lobbyist for Missouri Farm Bureau. Emily's mother completed her Masters in Education and began teaching English at Thomas Jefferson Middle School. Emily and her three siblings all graduated from Jefferson City High School and were active in athletics, the arts and in their church.. Following graduation, Emily obtained her Bachelors in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice graduating summa cum laude from Columbia College. While in undergraduate school, she began working for a law firm in Jefferson City first as a courier and then as a receptionist. During this time, she learned what an important role lawyers play in the lives of others; as an advocate and a counselor..
