On a sultry afternoon in August of 2000, Jason Call and Chip Gentry shook hands for the very first time. Chip was a lawyer at a Jefferson City law firm and Jason was just returning to his home town after practicing law in St. Louis for several years. A lasting friendship was built upon that first handshake, and was solidified by common interests, mutual respect, a love of competition, and the joy of comradery.. These same qualities provide the inspiration for Call and Gentry Law Group. Our attorneys and staff work together in an atmosphere that is collegial and inviting and share a commitment to excellence and "outside the box" thinking as we serve our clients' needs.. Along with Jason and Chip, our team of attorneys includes long time friend and mentor Paul Graham, who serves of counsel, and our good friend Blake Markus, an associate with the firm. Dedicated and experienced legal assistants Sheila Schill and Susan Draffen provide exceptional and knowledable legal support and ensure timely and responsive communication with our clients.. If you need a lawyer, then email or call us today and let us show you how our team approach and client service are beyond ordinary.
My career has been devoted to public service at the local government level. My father was a local government attorney and professor of local government, so you might say that I have local government in my blood. Beginning with the tiny Village of Wardsville I have represented all types of cities over the course of my career; from populations below 200 to above 40,000. I served for ten years as the city attorney for the City of Jefferson. In 2012 I was honored to receive the top award for a municipal attorney, the Lou Czech Award in recognition of my professionalism in the field of municipal law.. While attorneys are notorious for saying no, I believe that the art of the practice of law is to find a way to accomplish my client’s goal. I encourage you to talk to any of the cities I have represented and they will tell you how successful this philosophy has been in accomplishing their goals.
I graduated from the St. Louis University School of Law after receiving undergraduate degrees in Business and Politics from Drake University. While in law school, I worked in the Legal Clinic and litigated cases before the Missouri Court of Appeals. I also clerked for Circuit Court Judge Jon Beetem and Judge Paul Wilson, who is now a justice on the Missouri Supreme Court. Upon graduating law school, I worked as Enforcement Counsel for the Missouri Department of Insurance, Financial Institutions, and Professional Registration where I gained experience working with insurance companies and handling administrative law matters. I have represented clients in workers’ compensation matters at hearings and dockets throughout Missouri and am a member of the Missouri Bar and the Cole County Bar Association.
I grew up in Farmington, Missouri, went to undergrad at Mizzou, law school at Drake in Iowa, and then earned a post-doctoral degree in law & goernement from the American Univeristy in Washington, D.C. In my career I've handled both civil and crimianl jury trials, I've argued dozens of appeals, won a Missouri Supreme Court case, prosecuted hundreds of serious felonies, defended the State from lawsuits, and much more.
I attended Vanderbilt Universtity and graduated with a B.A. Thereafter, I attended the Cecil C. Humphreys school of law at the University of Memphis. I started practicing law in 1989 when I clerked for a Federal Judge before taking my first positon in Memphis, TN working as an Attorney for Legal Care Senior Citizens. Subsequently, I opened my own office in the Morgan Keegan building in Memphis, TN practicing criminial law. Because of my reputation as a good trial lawyer, I was recruited by the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee as an Assistant U.S. Federal Public Defender. In that position, I tried several cases a month many of which were very high profile cases. Because of my parents' failing health, I moved back home to help and be a caregiver for them. My parents' legal and health issues awakened my interest in elder law again. So, I opened an office as solo practictioner. My practice is a general practice in which I like to place an emphasis on elder law, estate planning, probate, estate administration and all the other areas listed in my avvo profile. I am passionate and competent in all areas that I practice. I make myself available to my clients and provide a detailed and personalized legal services to whomever I represent. I believe that client is important and every case is big case.
