Originally from Little Rock, Chris graduated from Hall High School In 1991. In 1995, he graduated from Hendrix College, where he earned a B.A. cum laude in economics and government with distinction. Chris later attended the University of Arkansas School of Law, where he graduated third in his class and earned a J.D. summa cum laude in 1998. He also served as the executive editor of the Arkansas Law Review; was a member of the board of advocates, and served as a member of the university’s national moot court team, which advanced to the national finals in New York. They have a son, Graham Averitt, and a daughter, Caroline Averitt.. He is active in church and previously founded a local apartment church. His parents live in Fayetteville, Arkansas, where his father is a retired minister of the United Methodist Church, and his mother is a retired school teacher.
