Ken represents clients in the transportation and logistics industry in matters regarding regulatory, corporate (including M&A) and government relations matters, both domestic and international. His clients include domestic and foreign multimodal, land transport and container depot interests as well as carriers, shippers and intermediaries. Ken appears before state and federal courts and regulatory agencies, and in mediation and arbitration proceedings. He provides counsel and litigation for complex cargo loss and damage, contracts, hazardous materials, safety compliance, personal injury, and cross-border transportation matters. Ken is proficient in Spanish and has assisted with projects in Mexico, Canada, South America and Europe.. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, and U.S. District Courts for the Western District of Missouri, District of Kansas, District of Colorado, and the Western, Eastern, Northern and Southern Districts of Texas. He is licensed to practice law in the states of Missouri, Texas and Colorado.. Ken sits on the board of directors of the Greater Kansas City Foreign Trade Zone (“GKCFTZ”). GKCFTZ received Grants of Authority from the U.S. Foreign Trade Zone's Board in Washington, D.C. to establish and operate Foreign Trade Zone 15 (Missouri) and Foreign Trade Zone 17 (Kansas) on December 20, 1973 and March 3, 1973, respectively ("FTZ"). Zones 15 and 17 process more goods and merchandise (measured by $$ value of goods received and forwarded) than FTZ's in St. Louis, Denver and other Ports of Entry in the Heartland of America.

John is an experienced litigator with substantial experience in the areas of transportation and logistics, products liability, commercial disputes, employment and criminal law. His transportation and logistics practice includes the representation of motor carriers, drivers, 3PLs, shippers and manufacturers in wrongful death, serious personal injury and cargo claims. He also assists clients with administrative and compliance issues. During his career, John has briefed and argued a number of cases before the Kansas Supreme Court and Court of Appeals.. John served as Dysart Taylor’s managing director from 2012 to 2014. He is licensed in the state and federal courts of Kansas and Missouri as well as the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.. Prior to joining Dysart Taylor, John earned his Bachelor of Science degree in political science and psychology from Missouri State University, which he attended on a football scholarship. He then earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Kansas in 1994. He served as an assistant prosecutor for the State of Kansas from 1994 to 1998. During that time, he prosecuted and tried numerous cases including drug violations, property crimes, domestic violence, rape, robbery and murder. John also taught criminal procedure at the police academy in Lawrence, KS.
