I have adopted the following statement of values as the basis for my
legal practice. Each statement is rooted in one or more of these
important principles: Respect, Responsibility and Relationship.
I enjoy practicing family law because of the personal connection that comes with getting to know my clients and then working to protect their rights and interests during one of the most challenging times of their lives.
I devote my practice entirely to family law, with a focus on complex parenting cases. These types of cases are my focus because I enjoy helping parents get through the difficult and stressful process of a divorce or custody proceeding feeling informed and empowered. I believe that my role as an attorney is not only to help the client understand the law and how it will impact their life, but also to provide a sense of security, predictability, and even comfort throughout their case. In addition to complex parenting cases, I handle all types of family law cases from the straightforward to the complex. I am currently serving as the mentor for the King County Bar Association Family Law Mentor program. I provide training, support, and advice to a group of attorneys who are new to family law, and who have volunteered to provide direct representation to low-income persons involved in a family law matter where a child is at risk. Many of these clients are victims of domestic violence. I am committed to being a resource not only to my clients, but to the community at large, particularly in the areas of domestic violence advocacy and the welfare of children.

I am licensed to practice in the State of Washington. My practice involves mostly franchise law. I represent franchisors in preparing contracts, disclosure documents and registration applications. I work with them to try to be sure they know how to comply with the franchise laws and have systems in place to avoid making costly mistakes.. In addition, I represent franchisees--both in helping them to decide whether to invest in a franchise and, if so, how to make the best decision for the client. Because, unfortunately, not all franchise relationships turn out to be happy, I also represent franchisees in arbitration or litigation with their franchisors.. Last, but not least, I provide legal services to many small businesses--everything from setting up their entity (corporation, LLC, etc.) to drafting contracts and agreements, to negotiating to deal with either opportunities or problems. When it is time to buy or sell a business, I am there for my clients.. I take great pride in trying to provide a high level of quality legal services and to being personally accessible to my clients in their times of need.
