Why I started my education law practice:. At the end of 2012, I took the time to reflect on all that I've learned over the past decade and to develop a vision of what I wanted to create over the next 10 years. At the same time, the indescribable Newtown, CT tragedy, which left my heart broken, remained close in mind. As the mother of a nine-month-old at the time, I simply could not stop thinking of the parents who lost their children; and of all parents who must be grieving in the same way. After all, their loss and grief were ours too. I wanted to somehow respond in my own way to help improve my community and create a safer more peaceful world for our precious children. This law practice, which focuses on advancing the educational rights of children with disabilities, is my response. There is nothing more precious in life than children. It is our responsibility as a society and as individuals to create a safe and nurturing environment for all children to feel free to learn, grow, fail and succeed - and hopefully along the way develop into happy individuals. My goal is simple: to help as many children as possible get an education they can access and enjoy to the fullest.
My practice is focused on helping students with disabiltiies receive the necessary services and support from their schools.. I came to practice special education law after being a special education teacher for several years. As a teacher, I saw firsthand how students with disabilities often were simply not getting the education they deserve from the public school system. I firmly believe that students with disabilities deserve every possible opportunity to learn, grow, and ultimately succeed in life.
