I help obtain patent protection for mechanical devices (e.g. medical, tools, toys), software, business methods, and electrical apparatus. My services range from writing the patent application, to responding to Office actions from the United States Patent and Trademark Office, to obtaining and maintaining an issued patent.  I also help clients determine patentability and whether their product would infringe the intellectual property of others.. Sonya Fischer has extensive experience as an advocate for vulnerable populations. Her activism stems from parenting a child with severe developmental disabilities. The institutional barriers she experienced as a young mother inspired her to speak up and create change for others.. A member of the Oregon State Bar since 2003, and selected as an Oregon Super Lawyers 2009, 2010 and 2011 “Rising Star,” Sonya brings compassion and first-hand legislative knowledge to the practice of law. She combines her legal expertise with her understanding of education and service delivery systems to create successful strategies for her clients. Sonya understands her clients' struggles and utilizes a collaborative approach while building a solid record to preserve her clients' rights.. Sonya began her advocacy efforts while attending Warner Pacific College where she organized parents of children with disabilities to secure important early intervention services. She was soon hired by Multnomah County, where she assisted the families of children with disabilities in accessing services and facilitated the planning and delivery of services for early childhood education, domestic violence and homeless youth.. In 1991, while completing her master's degree in Public Administration at Portland State University, Sonya began working as an intern for the late senator Frank Roberts, where she spearheaded new disability parking permit legislation. Sonya worked in Salem for 13 years. Sonya served as a Clackamas County Commissioner from 2016 - 2022 where her work resulted in additional housing for people with serious mental health challenges, increased resources for childcare, supported the expansion of the child tax credit and devellopment of a strong vision for future advocasy across the state and nation.. While working with the Oregon Council on Developmental Disabilities, Sonya helped create a system of in-home supports for children with severe disabilities and facilitated the passage of legislation making it possible for children with disabilities to continue attending the same school when living temporarily outside their parents' home. As legislative staff to Senator Frank Shields, Sonya developed a package of early childhood legislation that resulted in a statewide childcare provider training program that incorporated the importance of healthy brain development for young children. Sonya most recently served as the Director for State and Legislative Federal Affairs for the Oregon Department of Human Services.. Sonya graduated from the Lewis & Clark Law School, where she was recognized for her leadership and contributions as both a Joyce Ann Harpole Scholar and a member of the Cornelius Honor Society. The Harpole award is a peer-nominated award given each year to a law student and a practicing lawyer who are notable for balancing a fulfilling life with the study or practice of law. Sonya was also recognized for winning the mock trial competition. While in law school, Sonya spearheaded a pro bono program for law students to assist families with their childrens' special education planning.. Sonya is a member of the Board of Governors of the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association, where she previously served as President and co-chaired the Family Law Section. She is past President of the Clackamas Women Lawyers. She is past Secretary of the Clackamas County Bar Association and chaired the Policy Committee for FACT: Family and Community Together. She served as a delegate for the Oregon State Bar. She is also involved with Oregon Women Lawyers, and The Arc of Multnomah County. Sonya is a member of the Governmental Affairs Committee for the Lake Oswego Chamber of Commerce. She was very active in her childrens' educations, previously serving on school foundation boards and budget committees as well as volunteering in the classroom.

Shanon Lee Gray grew up playing among the trees with sticks and stones in the small town of Salisbury, Missouri. He was a young, curious boy who loved eating raisin pie, chasing lightening storms, playing tackle football on Saturday afternoons, cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs, and watching the Six Million Dollar Man. He has always had a strong sense of the law. His father was Sheriff of the county and his grandfather was a Missouri State Representative; he deeply wanted to follow in their footsteps. At a young age, Shanon knew he was bigger than what this country city had to offer; he became determined to leave and to create his own destiny. Shanon likes to say that he was a "late bloomer" when others inquire on why he attended law school at the late age of 27. He studied with devotion at Oklahoma City University and graduated with honors. Shanon's fate and desire brought him to practice in Portland; he decided that he wanted to put down roots in an area that catered to individuals who craved the outdoors and green living. Shanon started off doing environmental law because he, like many who reside here, is passionate about preserving the beauty of the land we live on. But found it to be too a little too dry and mundane; he longed to be in the courtroom fighting for people's constitutional rights and to bring forth deserved justice. In 2002, his quick wit and likable demeanor allowed him to be hired as a District Attorney for Multnomah County. Shanon began creating a name for himself among the community and rapidly became known as a "bulldog" in the courtroom. Being a DA provided him with invaluable experience and vital networking; it truly was his golden ticket to succeeding as a trial attorney. Shanon served as a DUII deputy, worked in the felony and drug property units, and served in the trial unit, his personal favorite, during his time at the DA's office. After 3.5 years at the "office", Shanon decided that he was ready to take on the next chapter and challenges in life. In 2006 with $6,500 saved and a burning desire to become his own boss, he put in his two week notice at the District Attorney's office and started his own law firm. Gray Law focuses purely on criminal defense cases; everything from standard misdemeanors to major felonies. The firm is dedicated to giving their clients a voice; a platform to be recognized and heard. Shanon's colleagues often joke that he has turned to represent "the dark side" but the stark reality is there truly is no dark side; just the simple search for truth. Amber’s practice emphasizes healthcare compliance and regulatory matters, contracting, third-party liability subrogation claims, ERISA, litigation and general advice issues in health care law. Amber’s practice is also focused on professional liability defense, including representing health care providers before their licensing boards.. Prior to joining Zupancic Rathbone, Amber owned her own medical legal consulting firm, AZA Consulting, LLC, where she spent several years providing litigation support and high-exposure claims management services to large healthcare institutions and law firms. Also a Registered Nurse, Amber received her nursing degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing. She spent nearly seven years serving as an R.N. in the Portland area as well as in California before deciding to go to law school. Amber studied Health Law at California Western School of Law in San Diego, receiving her J.D. in 2008.. While in law school, Amber served as a law clerk for another Portland area law firm as well as for the Office of the Attorney General, Department of Justice, for the State of California’s Bureau of Medi-Cal Fraud and Elder Abuse. While with the State of California, she assisted in case preparation to the Grand Jury regarding Medi-Cal billing fraud for IUDs, resulting in an indictment.
