I have been practicing family law in the Tampa Bay area for six (6) years.  I graduated from St. Joseph's University with my bachelor of arts in English and received my law degree from Stetson University.. In my time of practice I have determine that litigation and mediation must go hand in hand.  The best results for my clients have always begun with a strong and reasonable approach to settlement coupled with an attention to the details of each particular case so that my clients are successful in the event of litigation.  It is always my goal to achieve a result that is best for my clients and their families.. Litigation can take an unnecessary toll on families.  I strive to lessen the emotional impact by explaining the process and being available to my clients beyond the hours I am in my office.  Life happens beyond the hours of 9 to 5 during the week.  As such, my goal is to be availalbe when my client's have questions.  This allows my clients the peace of mind to know that I am looking out for their interests at all times and helping them avoid the pitfalls that are so typically found in family law situations.

I grew up a few miles outside of Gainesville, Florida and graduated from the University of Florida in 2002. While attending the university, I worked at the Kirkpatrick Center, Gainesville's police academy. My father was a police officer for 40 years so I was a good fit for work at the academy. I continued with the police academy after graduation for several years until I entered law school, attending the University of Tulsa.. Since becoming an attorney, I have exclusively practiced family law in the Tampa Bay Area since 2009. In 2013, my husband, Joe Cairns, also a family law attorney, and I opened up our own family law practice in Largo.. I strive to help my clients obtain the best resolution for their family and their family's needs. It is a primary goal of mine to help my clients settle all their matters before allowing a judge to decide what to do with their children and their money. However, if my clients have to go to trial because settlement is no longer an option, then we go to trial. Litigation is expensive and long so it is always my goal to help my clients through this emotional process.. I also serve as a Guardian Ad Litem in Pinellas County for both dependency court and family court matters helping children through their parents' divorce and parenting issues.

I am a problem solver.  I take a personal and direct approach with my clients.  I explain all the options and educate you on the various aspects of your case so that you can make the best decision possible for your family.  I love being a lawyer especially litigating in the courtroom but I know that my best work is actually done outside of Court.  In those instances, I help my clients manuveur through the process as efficiently as possible, understand what is going to happen and often time I negotiate a settlement to an otherwise difficult time in their lives.  With a background in litigation I have learned that resolving cases outside of Court is the best option for most people.  That is why I am also certified by the Florida Supreme Court to mediate family law cases and why I am an active member of the collaborative divorce movement.  I am very grateful that over the years I've been allowed the opportunity to help so many folks resolve their family law matters.
