I've been practicing for over 30 years. I have handled virtually every type of criminal case. I won a case in front of the United States Supreme Court. I was able to get a death sentence reversed, I have represented  several lawyers and Dr's on DUI cases. None of my lawyer and/or Dr. clients have ever been convicted of a DUI. I also represented a Dr on a sexual assault case and had it dismissed.. I then represented a Dr. that was accused of murder for allegedly casuing a patient overdose that resulted in , with several experts,I was able to show this was not was able to convince the Clark County Coroner to chenge his opinion,which is almost unheard of. Finally I was able to get his murder case dismissed with prejudice,which means the state can never file another murder case based on these facts.. I've lectured at many seminars,in Nevada and several other states teaching other laywers how to practice law. I am also very active in the Nevada stae bar the antional association of Criminal Defense lawyers and  the Stae Affliate, the Nevada Attorneys for Criminal Justice, (WhichI helped found). I was born in Yerington Nevada in 1942.  I attended the local grammar, Junior High, and High Schools there, graduating in 1960.  While in high school, if I wasn’t participating in a school or sports activity, I either worked in my father’s grocery store or at one of the local farms or mines in the Valley.. I attended the University of Nevada, Reno Campus, graduating in January 1965.  In college, I was active in campus politics (Senior Class President), athletics (football), and a fraternity (Alpha Tan Omega).  I also had a part time job most of the time.  Additionally, I enrolled in the advanced ROTC program and, upon graduation I received a B.S. in Physical Education, a minor in business and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Field Artillery.. I entered active duty with the U. S. Army in April of 1965 and was honorably discharged as a Captain in August 1970.  I served in South Korea, Oklahoma, and South Vietnam.  My primary assignment during those years was as a commander of company-sized units.  In addition to the theater ribbons associated with duty in South Vietnam, I was awarded two Army Commendation medals and the Bronze Star.. Upon being discharged, I entered law school at Hastings College of the Law, University of California, which is located in San Francisco.  Three years later I graduated and moved to Las Vegas with my wife Judy, son Mitchell, and daughter Jennifer.  After graduation and before moving, I took, successfully, the California Bar Examination.. While in law school and for a year or so thereafter, I served in the US Army Reserves as a Unit Commander in San Francisco and Las Vegas.. In 1973 I went to work for the Clark County Public Defender’s Office as a law clerk and then as a deputy upon passing the Nevada Bar exam.  After a little over two and a half years the law firm of Bell, Leavitt and Green hired me.. After leaving Bell, Leavitt and Green, I worked briefly at a law firm called Swanson, Momot, and Burns.  Since 1979 I have been practicing as Thomas M. Shortly after I moved to Las Vegas I met and married my wife Cheryl Karen. We have three children. We are very involved in the Las Vegas Jewish Community. We attend services regularly at Chabad of Southern Nevada. I have been actively practicing law in Las Vegas for over 20 years. I am a solo practitioner. I enjoy running my own business, and I like being an attorney. I am well known in the local courts. I go to court nearly every day. You can go to the Clark County website case search and type in my name under attorneys to see the kinds of cases I have handled in District Court. It will show too many cases to display, but you can get a good idea that I have handled lots of serious cases.  I graduated law school from Whittier College School of Law in 1992 in the top 20% of my class. Back then it was located in Los Angeles near Hancock Park. Now it is in Orange County. I graduated college from California State University San Bernardino in 1989. I had three college scholarships and I was a national essay contest winner. I grew up in San Bernardino. I graduated from San Gorgonio High School. In addition to being a full time attorney I am a part time District Court Judge (pro tempore) since 2007. That means that I preside as a judge over civil cases worth up to $50,. I have presided over several jury trials and bench trials. I have been a traffic court referee for Las Vegas Justice Court. I have presided over the Justice Court traffic sessions for attorneys. I have also been a small claims court Judge from 2005-2012. I am also a District Court Arbitrator. I am an attorney member of the Union Privilege Legal Services Plan. I am pleased to announce that I have represented Union Members for over 20 years. To get on this plan I had to be nominated by a local union and voted on by the union members every year. I identify with working people. I worked my way thru school and was a member of the Teamsters Union when I worked in a pipe manufacturing plant during the summer break from college. I have handled all kinds of serious cases from amputation injuries to wrongful death . I enjoy challenges and I am willing to go to trial when needed.  I enjoy helping people. I understand that bad things can happen to good people.
