After he received his Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Chico, he attended the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, California. Mr. Villegas was awarded the CALI award in Legal Writing and Civil Procedure for obtaining the highest grade in his class, and he was a recipient of the Dean’s Merit Scholarship. During law school, Mr. Villegas served as a law clerk for the Office of the Attorney General, Employment and Administrative Mandate Section, and for the Honorable Daphne Sykes Scott of the Orange County Superior Court.. Mr. Villegas was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force after six years of service as an Aircraft Armament Systems Technician for the 390th Fighter Squadron. While on active duty, Mr. Villegas was awarded the Air Force Achievement Medal for his tour in Iceland, Nation Defense Service Medal, and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, among others.
