In one of Joe's jury trials as a defense attorney, the client was one of four defendants charged by the Major Narcotics Unit with felony child abuse, and manufacturing and possession for sale of a large quantity of PCP. After Joe's cross examination of the police officers and prosecution experts, and the presentation of a defense expert, the judge dismissed the case against the client before the jury had the opportunity to reach a decision.. Joe is regarded as an elite criminal defense attorney since leaving the District Attorney's Office to pursue private practice in October of 2008 with his partner, Anthony Falangetti. Joe is a creative and critical thinker with a comforting bed-side manner who utilizes his knowledge of the prosecutor's job, his trial skills, and his professional relationships to achieve the best possible result for his clients.. As a defense attorney, Joe has obtained several dismissals and reductions for his clients, and Joe's peers often seek his advice on legal issues and jury trial tactics. Prior to being a lawyer, I was a small business owner. I owned my own collection company and collected hundreds of thousands of dollars of judgment debts, ranging from small claims judgments against shady used car lots, to larger judgments against real estate tycoons and even a senatorial candidate. In yet another previous life, I was a professional poker player, and have seen my fair share of people, places and things.. As an attorney  I continue to dedicate my practice to judgment enforcement law, and to recovering money for those who have rightfully won it but who are still not getting paid.. As of 2017, my firm has satisfied well over $15 million in judgment debts.. Firm: Law Officies of Brian J. Breiter, LLC

I was an insurance defense attorney for 30 years. It was a really great part of my life and the best part was I got to try (and mostly win) over 60 jury trials. Given changes in the defense industry, I decided it was time to make a change. Given my trial experience, I had quite a few plaintiff firms making me offers to come work for them. I picked a firm (Law Offices of Brian J. Breiter) I tried a case with several years ago, and I am rather pleased as they are a trial lawyer firm, and it does make a difference representing individuals against the insurance companies. The fit is, as they say, perfect.

I started my career as a civil litigator in a small firm. I did this for less than a year and instead pursued my passion for being in the courtroom and helping people by becoming a Deputy Public Defender for the County of Riverside. I practiced criminal defense with the Public Defender’s Office for over five years, handling thousands of cases ranging from misdemeanors to serious felonies. In handling those cases, I conducted hundreds of preliminary hearings, motions and trials.  I also gained extensive invaluable experience in the niche area of juvenile law having represented hundreds if not thousands of children being charged with crimes.  Working as a Public Defender in Riverside was a very rewarding experience especially in the time I was there. While I was there, we dealt with a very tough District Attorney’s office and this helped mold me into the knowledgeable, aggressive, and fearless attorney that I am now.. Trials Digest called this a "notable" settlement and featured it on the cover of the June 25, 2012 issue.. When a wheelchair bound individual applied in person to rent an apartment in Los Angeles, the apartment manager repeatedly informed him that he did not meet the financial requirements to be able to rent an apartment there. Then, after the disabled individual would submit documentation indicating that he met the qualifications reflected in the rental application and the apartment’s written policies, the apartment manager would change the qualifications or add new requirements in a blatant effort to prevent the handicapped individual from renting an apartment. The disabled plaintiff came to Mr. Ohn to fight for his rights. Mr. Ohn filed a housing discrimination lawsuit for violation of the federal Fair Housing Act, the California Fair Employment and Housing Act, the Unruh Civil Rights Act, and the Disabled Persons Act. Ohn successfully obtained complete summary judgment in favor of its clients.
