I then attended Iowa Writers’ Workshop and obtained a Masters of Fine Arts. I have published many poems and pieces of fiction. I was runner-up for two national first book of poetry awards. In law school I volunteered at the San Diego Superior Court Family Law Facilitator's Office drafting documents for indigent families and mediating disputes. I also mediated disputes between inmates at the San Diego Juvenile Hall. While volunteering at the Social Security Administration, I successfully represented a claimant in the appeal of their application for benefits.
