The Frederick Law Firm is a family business.  We are committed to providing the kind of representation we would expect if we were hiring an attorney.  This approach has led us to the following guiding principles:. 1. Keep the client well informed about the progress of the case.. 2. Don't hide the attorneys behind a mountain of paralegals and other staff members.  Cases are never handed down to paralegals or inexperienced attorneys, Steve and Carl manage every case.  In addition, Clients always have access to their lawyers when they want it.. 3. Really get to know the client, and take the time to understand how the injury or loss has impacted different areas of our client's lives.. 4. Prepare every case, from day one, like it is going to trial.  Don't sell the case short by thinking it is going to settle.  The defendant insurance company or corporation must be convinced that we will take the case to triall before they will settle the case for a fair and reasonable amount in advance of trial.  And if the case doesn't settle, we are ready for trial and will present the best case possible to the jury.. These principles form the core of our work ethic and have resulted in tens of millions of dollars in fair and just settlements and verdicts for our clients.

I grew up in Western Kentucky where I was very close to my grandmother, who died with Alzheimer’s the day before I entered law school.  Having grown up knowing and loving Mamaw and other seniors, I was disheartened as I saw how elderly individuals are often discounted by society.  I strive to treat my clients as I would want Mamaw to be treated.

I am originally from Lexington, Kentucky and began my academic career at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, graduating with honors, Cum Laude, in 1996. In the Fall of 1996 I returned to the Commonwealth, located in Louisville, and entered the Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville, where I graduated with honors, Cum Laude, earning a Juris Doctorate in 1999.. In October of 1999, I was admitted to practice Law in Kentucky and began as an associate with a local firm representing injured people in workers’ compensation claims, claims arising from automobile, truck, and motorcycle accidents, and other personal injury claims. In 2006, I was elevated from associate to partner in the firm and continued to work fighting for the rights of injured Kentuckians. In 2008, I began the Evensen Law Office, believing it afforded the greatest opportunity to provide the best legal representation for my clients.. I have represented hundreds of individuals helping them recover benefits arising from their injuries. I have successfully argued cases on behalf of my clients to the Supreme Court of Kentucky, and on multiple occasions had victorious cases published by the Supreme Court, thereby changing the law in favor of client’s position. These published cases are:. In my years of practice, I have handled claims involving almost every type of physical / orthopedic injury arising from traumatic events, such as Bone Fractures, Torn Ligaments and Tendons and Disk Herniations, as well as cumulative / repetitive trauma conditions such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. I have also handled complex claims including Brain Injuries and development of injury-related Psychological conditions. Further, I have represented individuals suffering from a variety of diseases such as asthma, harmful mold exposure and asbestosis which developed from exposure to chemicals and environmental elements. Having the opportunity to practice so many injury and occupational disease claims has allowed me to learn about the nature of a variety of injuries and illnesses, their treatment, and their disabling qualities.. I have traveled throughout the United States and overseas attending conferences regarding both workers’ compensation and automobile / truck accident issues and also provide education to members of the community, speaking on injury issues and the law to labor and management groups.. I am a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, Louisville Bar Association, Kentucky Justice Association (formerly KATA), and the Kentucky Workers Association (KWA).

As a mom of three teenagers and active triathlete, you can imagine I lead a pretty busy life.  I am blessed to have a great husband and wonderful family that supports all I do, and they are always there to help out.. For those of you who know me, you know Ironman has changed my life!  Training for triathlons took me from ex-college-athlete to fit mom.  More importantly, through Ironman I have had the privilege of working with some of the best volunteers in Louisville!  Every aid station on the mile race is covered by folks from a local non-profit, church or charity who are volunterering their time in the sun and heat not just to raise money for their causes, but to help people who are struggling to achieve their lifetime dream!  These groups cheer us on, give us water when we are dehydrated, food when we are seeing double, and emotional support every step of the way.  I have been honored to be a volunteer and help raise money through The Ironman Foundation for my church, Our Lady of Lourdes, and thrilled to be a competitor who has been supported by my family and fellow parishioners.  This year I am competing not just to finish, but to give back to my community.    This year I don't compete for Sheila -- I Tri for Louisville, the City I Love!.
