My current community service activity is raising a guide dog puppy for the blind.  Our last dog two dogs we raised are now guides to people in California.  Each dog is trained in basic obedience and social manners and sometimes will join client meetings.  After approximately a year the puppy continues his training at the Guide Dog campus in Boring, Oregon.. I also as an volunteer attorney for Lawyers Fostering Independence - assisting youth who have aged out of foster care and need legal advise.. Other interests of mine include, gardening, cooking (fried chicken is a specialty as a result of my mother's southern influence), attending Seattle Storm basketball games and travel when time allows.  One of the most interesting places that I lived is Morocco - I spent time in a small town outside Rabat named Mehdiya Plage. I also lived Paris and I highly recommend the Dali Musuem as an off the beaten path Museum.

I graduated from Stanford University and the University of California Hastings College of the Law. Prior to opening Hickman Menashe, P.S., I practiced as an associate at the law firm of Isenhour Bleck, PLLC. I also worked for Senator Ron Wyden, and Evergreen and Columbia Legal Services. I enjoy meeting people, learning their stories and helping them put basic planning in place that will make a difference for themselves and their loved ones.. I am a past Chair of the Elder Law Section of the Washington State Bar Association and previously served as a member of their Executive Committee. I regularly speak before State and local bar groups, estate planning councils, and community groups on topics ranging from Estate Planning to Special Needs Trusts to Medicaid Planning.. I am actively involved in my community and keep busy playing and enjoying life with my wife and children.

I graduated from Brigham Young University, receiving my J.D.,cum laude, in 1985 and my B.A. in American Studies in 1982. Afterward I began clerkingfor the Honorable Ricardo Hinojosa, United States District Judge,Southern District of Texas.. I grew up in Washington, and after completing my education and some work experience out of state, I returned to the Seattle area in 1987. I first worked as an associate attorney at the law firms of Karr TuttleCampbell (1987 - 1991) and Short Cressman and Burgess (1991 - 1992). Then, in 1993, I opened my own law office where I practiced for twelve 2005, I joined forces with Jacob Menashe to form Hickman Menashe,P.S.. I am a past Chair of the Elder Law Section of the WashingtonState Bar Association and a member of Washington State's chapter of theNational Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. I speak regularly tocommunity and service groups, such as the United Way, helping toeducate people about estate planning, special needs trusts and otherlegal issues.. I am active in my church and community, where I frequently work with theBoy Scouts of America. I enjoy spending time with my wife and twosons.
