Matthew Casper received a JD from Lewis and Clark Law School in 2006 and a BA in Philosophy from Brigham Young University in 2001. He is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of Oregon and the State Courts of Oregon. Mr. Casper focuses his practice on bankruptcy and brings his experience to the Medford office.. Matt was married in 2000 and has five beautiful children. Kelly L. Andersen is a 1979 graduate of the Brigham Young University School of Law at Provo, Utah. He has served as a trial attorney since that time. He has also received advanced training from the National College of Advocacy, held at Stanford University and at Harvard University. Kelly is admitted to practice in both State and Federal Courts, and has served as lead counsel in cases originating in Oregon, California, Washington and Hawaii. He has also handled cases in the Oregon Court of Appeals, the Oregon Supreme Court, the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals (covering the western United States), and the United States Court of Federal Claims, headquartered in Washington D.C.. Kelly and his wife, Liz, live in Southern Oregon. Together they have ten children and five grandchildren. Kelly loves hiking, camping, horseback riding, mountain climbing, and the great outdoors. He is also an avid bicyclist and loves to read. He has been actively involved for many years in helping youth through Church and civic organizations. I like to help people. That is why I spend my time helping people who have been hurt by someone else. I can help with problems when a nursing home hurt you or a loved one, a car crash, a brain injury, even after a wrongful death. I also help survivors of sexual abuse and other traumatic injuries.. A bit about my academic background:. I graduated from Willamette University College of Law magna cum laude. I received the National Association of Women Lawyers Outstanding Law Graduate Award and the Bruce Spaulding Memorial Award for Trial Advocacy. During law school, I served as Editor-in-Chief of Willamette Law Online, Executive Editor of the Willamette Journal of International Law and Dispute Resolution, was a member of the Pro Bono Honors Society, a volunteer for the Willamette University Public Interest Law Project, and served in various positions in other extra-curricular groups. My interest in serving people and justice led me to work with injured people trying to get their lives back on track and families seeking justice after the wrongful death of a loved one. I am a member of the Oregon State Bar Association, the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association, and the Jackson County Bar Association. I am also a member of the American Association for Justice, the American Board of Trial Advocates, and the Melvin Belli Society. During law school, I worked one-on-one with struggling students to help teach them legal writing and research methods. I worked on plaintiff-side issues in worker’s compensation and social security disability by helping research, develop, and edit briefs for filing in an administrative forum, in the U.S. Federal District Court, and in the Oregon Court of Appeals. I worked as a legal intern in the International Human Rights Clinic on a report on Oregon’s infrastructure response to human trafficking published in June 2010. I worked with a team for End Child Prostitution and Trafficking (ECPAT) in New York to analyze the laws regarding child prostitution in all 50 states. I also helped prepare draft rules and commentary for the Committee to Review the Oregon Judicial Code. In addition to my law degree, I also earned a Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA). While studying for my MBA, I was named a Willamette MBA Scholar, received the Exceptional Performance Award for Integrated Knowledge Evaluation Week, and won the Fitzhenry Joint Degree Scholar Award.. I regularly attend continuing education conferences at the state and national levels. High-quality ongoing education helps me stay on top of the best practices and research on injury cases and trial work. I also read the best books on these topics. From a young age, I have been involved in community service. From volunteering with programs to serve the homeless, to working with young children at my church, I have always enjoyed helping others. The same passion and drive that sent me to Mexico to build houses for homeless families led me to law school. I have continued volunteering for community groups and am involved in many activities, including organizing and speaking at events raising awareness about human trafficking in Oregon.
