Growing up my mom was a teacher and dad delivered bread for a living. I started working at 14 as a dishwasher at the Bar-B-Q Restaurant in Milford. While the owners were very gruff people their son Howard managed the kitchen.   He taught me that a manager leads by example; that if you worked hard and respected your team, they would give you their very best.  I soon learned to cook and moved on to Scribner’s Restaurant where the owner taught me an incredible lesson:  “Sure we can do it!” That was Scribner's motto.  At 9:00 on a Tuesday night in January when we hadn’t served a dinner in an hour and a couple called to say they’d be there in 15 minutes to eat, he say “Sure we can do it, come on down.” He’d keep three people on staff just to serve dinner to two customers.  He loved to make customers happy.. My mother went to law school later in life, and when I was admitted to the Connecticut Bar I joined her firm.  Her words to me:  “Real estate is boring but it pays the bills; it's yours.” Fortunately for me I never found it boring. Closings are like puzzles that need to be put together. Lots of moving pieces:  buyers, sellers, realtors, lenders, the other attorney, a title company, the water company, the tax collector and the list goes on.  Somehow, someone needs to get them all to cooperate to make the closing go smoothly. I loved the challenge then and almost 20 years later, I still do.. Attorney Steven L. While Steve was in law school, his mother was diagnosed with ALS and given 6 months to a year to live.  He was thrust into a number of roles that his clients often find themselves in —caregiver, advocate, provider, and concerned loved one.. While his mom lost her battle to ALS, Steve vowed never to give up the fight.  He finished Widener School of Law and he has dedicated his career to helping his clients deal with tough issues -- such as medical malpractice, personal injury, death, incapacity, disability, special needs, social security, asset protection and taxes – and provide that assistance in the best and least stressful way possible.. Attorney Rubin was born in New Haven and has been a life-long Connecticut resident.  He graduated from Cheshire High School, and the University of Connecticut (UCONN) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science.  While attending the University of Connecticut, Attorney Rubin was a member of the governing counsel for the Housing Board of Directors and the vice president of the Jewish Student Association.  He graduated UCONN a member of Phi Alpha Phi -- the national political science honor society.. Attorney Rubin then attended Widener University School of Law in Pennsylvania.  While attending Widener, he was a member of the Trial Advocacy Honor Society and participated in numerous Moot Court arguments.  He was also a founding member of the Animal Rights Legal Society and Treasurer of the Environmental Law and Policy Society, involvements that put into action his values and ideals..
