This is the largest award in the State’s history involving injuries caused by an explosion of PRB (Powder River Basin) coal dust. It also makes Tim the only attorney in Wisconsin to have four multi-million dollar recoveries against the State’s largest utility.. In 2011, the Wisconsin Association for Justice selected Tim (for the first time) as the recipient of the prestigious Robert L. I earned my degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1972, then recieved my Juris Doctorate from Marquette University Law School in 1977.  I frequently present and speak for the State Bar of Wisconsin, American Board of Trial Advocates, and Wisconsin Academy of Trial Lawyers.  I am also a Civil Trial Practice Instructor at the University of Wisconsin Madison-Law School.

I have been a lawyer and member of the Wisconsin Bar for 37 years. I am a 1978 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a 1982 graduate of the University of Michigan Law School (considered one of the top law schools in the country). I have been married for 35 years and I have four children and four young granddaughters. My son is a congressional staffer on Capitol Hill, I have a daughter who is a lawyer in Minneapolis, and two other daughters who are bilingual teachers in Milwaukee.. While in law school, she was heavily involved in the Moot Court Association where she participated in the Jenkins Honors Moot Court Competition, served on the Executive Board as Associate Justice for National Competitions, and competed in the National Moot Court Competition regional at Marquette. As a third year student, Michelle completed an internship with the Wisconsin State Public Defender’s Office in the Milwaukee County Trial Division where she gained valuable courtroom experience. Throughout law school, she was a St. Thomas More Scholar and received five CALI Excellence for the Future Awards for earning the top grade in her Appellate Writing and Advocacy, Civil Pretrial Practice, Mediation Advocacy, Negotiation Workshop, and Comparative Criminal Law and Procedure in Spanish courses.
