I grew up in Missoula but went to school at Montana State University to get a B.S. in chemical engineering.  After working at the Hanford site in Washington, I returned to Missoula for law school.  I started as an intern at Worden Thane in 1994 and graduated  from law school in 1996 when I was hired as an associate.. Starting in 1999, I began working on complex litigation involving professional negligence (predominately medical malpractice) and class actions.  I have represented a variety of doctors, lawyers, accountants, and contractors in professional negligence cases.   I have also represented hospitals, power companies, and other businesses in class action litigation.. I have the honor of having a great group of clients in banking, construction, power production, and medicine.. Otherwise, I am an avid hockey player and a founder of the Missoula Woodpeckers Hockey Club, a travelling team, and I am completing my work for a black belt in taekwondo.

I graduated from Hellgate High School in 1971.  I was a member of the debate team in high school and continued on the debate team for the University of Montana.  I graduated from the U of M in 1975 with a degree in Human Communications and from the School of Law in 1980.. I was a law clerk for Justice Frank Morrison, Jr in 1981 and the Chief Enforcement Attorney for the Montana Securities Department in 1982.  I did post graduate study at the Puget Sound School of law before returning to Missoula to open a practice in 1983.  I began Bulman Law Associates PLLC and have specialized in disability and injury law since that time.

I am a consumer protection attorney based out of Missoula, Montana.  I began working in the area of consumer protection over ten years ago, and have helped countless Montanans with financial legal issues including debt collections, bankruptcy, foreclosure prevention, landlord-tenant problems, credit report errors, and more.. I am admitted to practice in all Montana state courts, United States District Court for the District of Montana, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.  I am proud to be a member of the State Bar of Montana, the National Association of Consumer Advocates, and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys.. When I am not in the office, you can find me gardening, listening to old country music, and playing with my three-year old.

First off, in the spirit of full disclosure, I confess that I am not a native Montanan – I’m an Oregon transplant.  (When football season rolls around, I don’t argue Griz or Cats – I just sit back and remind everyone I’m a Duck… or at least, I used to.  Then, Marcus Mariota graduated...  but, I digress.)I am the only child of a single working mom.  I was born in San Francisco, and we moved to the Willamette Valley in Oregon when I was about 9 years old.  I grew up out in the country where ageing hippies (including some of the original Merry Pranksters) live beside old school farmers and ranchers.  From both, I learned lessons about self-sufficiency that I still rely on today. After high school, I moved to Washington and married a man in the Air Force.  When he got orders for Okinawa, Japan, I wasn’t sure I would like it – four years later, I didn’t want to leave. I was always horse crazy, but we couldn’t afford one when I was growing up – I’ve been making up for that ever since.  Today, I have two slightly lunatic retirees and a ginormous warmblood named Steve.  Don’t ask about him unless you’re prepared to look at pictures – I’m ridiculously fond of him.I have a variety of other animals – all strays or adoptees.  My Lincoln – who came out of a box of free puppies at Safeway – often comes to the office with me because legal research is a lot more fun when there’s a big old head lying across your feet.

David Maldonado has successfully defended numerous clients charged with DUI, Drug Offenses, and multiple other criminal charges.  He is the founder and owner of Maldonado Law, PLLC which maintains two offices: Missoula and Butte, MT.  He maintains an active personal injury caseload representing people on first and third party insurance claims for those individuals that suffered bodily injury as the result of car crashes.  Additionally, David maintains an appellate practice and a limited family law practice. Chris is a fourth generation Montanan who was born and raised in Missoula. Chris has worked in many different fields. He has held several positions at a local credit union and in the construction industry. He also worked in sales. Chris is a graduate of the University of Montana three times over with a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Communication, a Master of Public Administration, and Juris Doctor degree.. Chris has worked in the labor arena since law school. During law school he interned at a labor law firm in Seattle, WA. After he graduated, Chris worked at Liberty Mutual in Missoula, MT, handling Workers’ Compensation claims. At Liberty, Chris received awards and recognition for his work within the company and the Montana Workers’ Compensation system.. After four years at Liberty, Chris decided he wanted to help people who had been hurt in accidents, rather than represent the interests of an insurance company. Since 2007, Chris has pursued a narrow practice focused on personal injury and Workers’ Compensation claims. C.J. Johnson is a second-generation trial lawyer. He received a degree in history from the University of Colorado and graduated from the University of Montana School of Law in 1999. C.J. then clerked for U.S. Magistrate Judge Richard F. Cebull in Great Falls before joining a high-energy Missoula defense trial practice in 2000. In 2018, C.J. left that practice to focus exclusively on plaintiff’s civil litigation and trial work.. More than half of C.J.’s career was spent as panel-approved insurance defense counsel in cases involving catastrophic personal injuries, medical malpractice, products liability, insurance coverage, and complex real estate defect and disclosure issues. He always carved space for a handful of plaintiff’s cases, and that portion of his practice grew over fifteen years to completely supplant defense work.. Bryan was born and raised in Missoula, graduating from Loyola Sacred Heart High School in 1980. After obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Montana in Business Administration, he attended and graduated from the University of Puget Sound School of Law (now the Seattle University School of Law) in 1987.. After short stints with the City Prosecutor’s Office and the Pierce County Department of Assigned Counsel in Tacoma, Washington, Bryan began a private law practice in Seattle. Bryan left the firm of Tipp Mitchell & Associates in 1994 to return to Missoula, and thereafter joined Tipp & Buley, PC.. Bryan’s criminal defense practice includes the defense of all types of State and Federal offenses, with the additional emphasis of the defense of DUI cases. Between Briana’s second and third years of law school, she worked at the Federal Defenders of Montana where her passion for criminal defense was reaffirmed. After graduating with honors from UM Law in May of 2011, Briana moved to Helena to clerk for Justice Jim Rice of the Montana Supreme Court.After clerking for Justice Rice for a year, Briana was hired at Smith & Stephens P.C. in Missoula as part of its elite criminal defense team. Under the tutelage of John E. Smith and Colin M. Brian Smith is a 1997 graduate of the University of Montana School of Law. He was initially admitted to the North Dakota and Minnesota State Bars in 1997 and admitted in Montana in 1998. (Two bar exams at a time was enough.) He did not keep North Dakota and Minnesota Bar licenses but is admitted in all State and Federal Courts in Montana. In the over twenty years that Brian has been in practice he has spent about half the time in private practice and the other half in the trenches as a full time public defender, both for the State of Montana and the County of Missoula. He is a member of the Federal Criminal Justice Act panel.. Brian is also a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Montana Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the American Bar Association, and the National Association for Public Defense. He is a Trustee/Officer for the State Bar of Montana and a member of the State Bar Technology Committee.  The Montana Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers named him co-Lawyer of the Year in 2014.. Brian has a diverse practice now focused primarily on both criminal and civil litigation. Brian also has significant experience representing clients in divorces and parenting actions. Bradley J. Jones and his wife Brenda have been married for more than twenty years and are raising their four sons and one daughter in the Bitterroot.  Following his first career in construction (carpenter/construction management/contractor)  In January 2018 Brad purchased the Law Offices of Joan E. Cook and formed Jones & Cook Attorneys at Law.  Taking advantage of past experience, Brad’s practice focuses on workers’ compensation disputes, family law matters, estate planning/admisintration, and personal injury claims.  Brad graduated from the University of Montana School of Law in December 2013 and has been admitted to practice law in Montana and North Dakota.
