Karen Siderovski (pronounced Sidd-er-off-ski) grew up in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Karen graduated magna cum laude from Dickinson College where she majored in International Business and Management, Psychology, and French Language/Francophone Studies. While in college, she interned at Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) where she observed attorneys and judges make life-changing decisions to improve the lives of children in foster care. While learning about the emotional world of child welfare and child custody, Karen felt empowered and eager to become a lawyer to advocate for children and parents.. Karen went on to obtain her Juris Doctorate degree from Wake Forest University School of Law. While at Wake Law, she completed CASA training and served as a Guardian ad Litem for five young neglected children who needed her investigation, court reports, and court testimony to ensure they would be cared-for in happy and healthy forever homes. Karen graduated from Wake Forest University School of Law with Pro Bono Honors for having served over 75 hours as a Guardian ad Litem in Forsyth County.. Karen was a collegian member of Kappa Alpha Theta at Dickinson, and now as an alumna member in Winston-Salem, she volunteers as the Advisory Board Chair for the Kappa Alpha Theta Chapter at Wake Forest University.. In her free time, Karen enjoys watching Marvel movies and taking care of her fluffy cat.

Right out of college she worked for Davie County, while earning her Masters in Public Administration. She then used the skills acquired from that degree to serve as Director of Resource Development for Habitat for Humanity. While working for Habitat for Humanity, she advocated for affordable housing in Washington D.C. This experience reinforced her love of helping others and influenced her decision to go to law school.. After law school, Ms. Koontz returned home to Davie County to practice law with Mr. E.
