Mr. Long has practiced law exclusively in eastern North Carolina since graduating from Campbell University School of Law in 2003.  He is a former police officer and also a former prosecutor.  Mr. Long's unique skill set from his diverse professional background differentiates him from other attorneys.  He represents clients in Craven County, Pamlico County, and Jones County in "criminal court" for traffic matters, DWI/DUI, and criminal matters and in "domestic court" for divorce, child custody, and property distribution matters.

I was raised in Ashtabula County, Ohio.  After graduating from Jefferson Area High School in 1982, I joined the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in Cherry Point, North Carolina.  I received an honorable discharged in 1987.  I worked as a secretary and paralegal until I went to law school in 1997.  In 2000 I went to work for Ward and Smith, P.A. in their New Bern office where I stayed for six years.  I then opened my own practice in 2006.  Since opening my practice, I have concentrated primarily on family law.  However, I also prepare estate planning documents and have recently started to incorporate elder law into my practice.

I grew up in Pensacola, Florida and graduated college from Florida State University.  I worked as a paralegal in Florida, Georgia and Washington State prior to entering law school.  One of the most fulfilling experiences I have had was attending Suffolk University Law School in Boston, Massachusettes.  After graduation in 2004, I was admitted to the North Carolina State Bar and begain handling real estate transactions, creating wills and other documents for client's estate plans, and administering the estates of deceased loved ones.  After handling my first custody case, I knew family law was the practice area in which I wanted to specialize.  Family law matters touch upon many different areas of life and my personal and legal experience gives me an advantage.  I have worked in small firms and large firms to include Stubbs Perdue and White & Allen  but now enjoy the flexibility and satisfaction of operating Forrest Family Law.  This career choice affords me the ability to focus on each client's individual needs.  I dedicate my entire practice to helping clients find the right solutions to their family law matters.
