I am 1989 graduate of  the University of South Carolina Honors College, magna cum laude,and a 1993 graduate of the University of Chicago Law School. While in law school, I completed a clinical education program with a concentration in criminal law.  After graduation I began my career as an assistant public defender with the Cook County Public Defender s Office in Chicago. I have been a criminal lawyer, and only a criminal lawyer, ever since.. In 1996, I returned to New Orleans, establishing my professional career with the Orleans Parish Public Defender’s Office. In early 1998, I established NOLA Criminal Law, because I sensed there was a need for a lawyer like me – a lawyer who was willing to try to do things a little bit differently than most. What I mean is this: sometimes lawyers don’t make any sense. Sometimes clients feel like their lawyer doesn’t understand them or their problems.
