I was raised in Oxford, North Carolina by my father who is an attorney, and my mother who was a teacher. My older brother and I both attended The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill (UNC-CH - go heels!) together and graduated in 2004. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies with Highest Honors. I immediately attended law school at UNC-CH and earned my Juris Doctor in May 2007.. Following law school, I moved to Norfolk, VA and began working as a sentencing advocate for the Public Defender in Chesapeake, VA until I received word that I had passed the bar on my first attempt in October of the same year. I spent much of my first years of practice defending indigent clients in Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. I was privileged to have the opportunity to help many children charged with crimes in Chesapeake's Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court, and even received an invitation to attend the National Juvenile Defender's Conference in Washington, D.C. in 2010.. In 2011, I took the Bar Exam in North Carolina, opening the door to expand my practice into that state and I also transferred offices to the Norfolk Office of the Public Defender to continue my work with juveniles. I saw the transition to a new court and new city as an opportunity to grow professionally and improve my trial skills. In less than two years, I had been promoted to the violent crimes team in the Norfolk office. There, I moved from defending juveniles to adults charged with serious violent crimes involving rape, murder, robbery, arson, burglary, drug possession and distribution, and firearms charges.. I am now proud to partner with Diallo Morris and Tiffany Crawford to provide the highest quality legal representation in criminal and family law all over Hampton Roads. At Morris, Crawford and Currin, we all take your case seriously and will zealously advocate for you. This means not just giving effective representation in court, but taking the time to ensure our clients understand all the steps of the legal process. To provide the best representation for you, we carefully consider the circumstances that extend from and precede your current predicament. We would be honored to help you with your current legal needs.
