After graduation she worked for two years as a litigation paralegal for a Washington, D.C., personal injury firm. She graduated with her J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law in 2005 where she participated in the Domestic Violence Clinic.  From 2005 through 2013 she was employed as a Staff Attorney at Community Legal Aid specializing in family law and domestic violence law. From January through June, 2010, Attorney Withers worked as a Clinical Instructor at Harvard Law School, where she supervised three law students and co-instructed a family law course as part of the Domestic Violence and Family Law Clinics at the university's Legal Services Center.Attorney Withers has served for four years on the Board of Directors of New Hope, Inc., an Attleboro-based domestic violence agency.
