When not practicing law, I enjoy non-legal reading and writing, and of course spending time with my family--being outdoors, playing games, visiting national parks, singing and serving others (including on a couple non-profit boards).  My wife, Beth, is a Physical Therapist working in both geriatrics and pediatrics, but her primary occupation is home educator.  We are active in our church and enjoy bible study.  We have a loyal, somewhat obedient Irish Goldendoodle named Sherlock, several cats, lots of chickens and a guineafowl that showed up on our little farm and never left.

I practiced in Phillipsburg, Kansas with my father until his death in 1988. I continue to maintain the Phillipsburg office, but my primary location is now Overland Park, Kansas.  I have served on the Kansas Bar Association's Ethics and Grievance committee for many years.  My practice is primarily in the areas of Estate Planning, Probate, Trusts, and Elder Law, but my western Kansas background has also given me significant experience in Agriculture and Oil and Gas.. Almost all Estate Planning is done on a flat fee basis. Fees for probate depend on state law and are subject to approval of the Court. Other services may be a flat fee or hourly, depending ont he type of service.. I serve on the Board of  the Heartland Men's Chorus and I'm a member of the Leawood Rotary Club.
