Mark Barrett joined Osterhout Disability Law in 2014. He works in the Federal Courts division as an appellate attorney. Since joining the firm he has written briefs for Social Security Disability appeals in dozens of Federal District courts across several Circuits. Prior to his work at Osterhout Disability Law, Mark worked as a solo practitioner for his own general practice with a special focus on Oil and Gas law, Employment law, and providing counsel to small businesses and startups. Mark also spent four years as an attorney at Eckert, Seamans, Cherin, & Mellott LLC where he specialized in pre-trial litigation in complex class actions for Fortune 500 companies. I grew up in sunny Florida and attended The Florida State University as an undergraduate. I then moved to Pennsylvania and attended the University of PIttsburgh School of Law. Following graduation, I served as a judicial law clerk for two years to the Honorable Daniel L. Leland, District Chief Judge (retired) of the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Administrative Law Judges in Pittsburgh. I then spent over 12 years handling federal black lung claims from inception through the appellate process, including appeals to the Benefits Review Board and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.. Deciding I needed a change, I started working in the appellate department of OBL in 2017, where I use my background in administrative proceedings to advocate for individuals seeking Social Security Disabilty benefits in federal district courts across the country.

Hannalore serves as Osterhout Berger Disability Law’s managing partner, bringing years of legal expertise and knowledge to her practice, which concentrates on federal court appeals in the areas of Social Security disability and ERISA.. In 2014, Hannalore and her family moved to Pittsburgh after a ten-year tenure in the Navy while her husband was an officer in the submarine force. Prior to joining Osterhout Berger Disability Law, Hannalore worked as a judicial clerk for three years in the Superior Court of Connecticut and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Court. She then joined Waller, Smith and Palmer, PC in New London, Connecticut, where she practiced primarily in the areas of litigation and municipal law.. Hannalore received her bachelor’s degree from The Pennsylvania State University, after which she received a Fulbright Fellowship to study law and political science in Munich, Germany. Hannalore returned to earn her JD magna cum laude from Seattle University School of Law. In addition to practicing law, Hannalore is a past-president of the Greater Pittsburgh Area Chapter of the Fulbright Association and volunteers with various community organizations, including North Hills Community Outreach’s Ask the Attorney Program.
